GOAL SCHOLARSHIP

COMMUNITY SERVICE
(CS) REQUIREMENTS

Community service is volunteered work which should
be done outside of your regular full-time employment
What is
Community - It can be completed after regular working hours or on
weekends.
Service (CS)? - It does not have to be every day of the week, but it
should be at least twice per week or 8 hours per week.

What is the Required Procedure?
Step 1 – Prepare and submit a proposal on what you
would like to work on to GOAL for approval.

Step 2 – Upon approval, commence the project and keep


a log (with dates) of all activities completed

Step 3 – Request letter of completion from the Head of


the organization confirming the hours and activities
completed as part of your project.

Step 4 – Submit completion letter, activity logs or


project reports to GOAL CS Coordinator by email.
What should be in your proposal?
A project proposal is a brief outline of the project you wish to undertake and should
not be more than three (3) pages. It should include:
• Title of the project, introduction, objectives, beneficiaries, activities, and
anticipated results of the project
• Name of community and the organization within the community where the
service will be undertaken.
• Name of the person who will supervise the project along with their contact
number and email address
• Proposed start and end dates of your community service.
• Details of your GOAL scholarship awarded to you: University, Programme & year
• Your full name, contact number and email address.

Where can I undertake my community service?
Community service may be undertaken at any registered

Government Agencies, CBOs, NGOs (religious, orphanages,
homes, shelters) or Educational Institutions (schools, libraries,
learning centers).

Community Service cannot be a part of your regular job-


description.

• Community Literacy or numeracy
programmes.
• Community clean-up projects.
• Volunteer activities with orphans, senior
citizens or victims of abuse/natural
disasters.

GOAL CONTRACT REQUIREMENTs

• The GOAL contract is an agreement between the scholarship awardee and


the Government of Guyana.
• The contract states the contractual obligations and provisions for both
parties as a result of acceptance of the scholarship offer.
• By signing the contract both parties accept and agree to all the conditions as
stated in the said agreement/contract.
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR SIGNING AND
SUBMITTING THE CONTRACT?
Upon receipt of the email with the contract, the awardee is required to :
• Download the contract and then convert to a Word document
• Complete the sections that require section: Full student name, Programme
level, University and Duration as highlighted on the contract
• Fill in their full name, signature and date at the bottom of the contract where
it says name of GOAL scholar and signature, along with signature of
witnesses.
• After completion, the document is then scanned into PDF document,
attached and sent by email to goalcontracts@goal.edu.gy
