Fort Bend ISD 2012 Spring Exemption Policy Clements High School

9th Grade y Students will not take second semester exams in courses with an END OF Course (EOC) exam 10th Grade y Exempt from English, Science, Social Studies and Math exams ONLY y Minimum 2100 score on all sections of TAKS y Minimum grade of 80 for semester 2 average y No more than (4) absences in each class during spring semester y 3 tardies = one absence 11 and 12 Grades y Eligible for exemption in all classes y Minimum 2100 score on exit-level TAKS y Minimum grade of 80 for semester 2 average y No more than (4) absences in each class during spring semester y 3 tardies = one absence y Students absence of up to two (2) days for visiting a college or university may be considered as an exemption, provided the student: 1. Receives prior approval from the campus principal 2. Follows the campus procedures to verify such a visit 3. Makes up any work missed (HB2542) Please note for all grades: y Students may not have a removal to DAEP/JJAEP on their discipline record y Students may not have outstanding fees or fines y Students must attend exempted classes or exemption activities on test day in order to receive exam exemptions Exemptions to Compulsory Attendance State law allows exemptions to the compulsory attendance requirements for the following activities and events: y Religious holy days y Required court appearances y Activities related to obtaining United State citizenship (HB192) y Service as an election clerk (SB 1134) y Documented health-care appointments which require a student attends part of the school day as a temporary absence including but not limited to , absences recognized for services for students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (HB 192) For more detailed information regarding absences, please refer to pages 3, 4, and 12 of the FBISD Student /Parent handbook.
