Personnel management-

Defination-Personnel management is concernewd with the management and proper utilistion of human resourses for attaining organisation goal.

According to George R Terry- personnel management is concerned with obtaining and maintining of a satisfactory and a satisfied work force.

According to French, Personnel management is the recruitment ,selection,devlopment, utilisation andaccomondation of human resources by organisation. Nature of Personnel management:1) Managing people:- personnel management is concerned with managing people at work.it covers all personsincluding clarical staff, executive,managers etc.

2) Concened with employee:- personnel management deals with the employeeboth as individual as group. The aim is to motivate people for getting best results.

3) Helping employee:- the employees are helped to devlope their talent fully by provinding them appropriate opportunity. 4) Universal application:- personnel management may be used eveywhere and in every type of organisation.It is equally usefull in a government and semi government and non profit organisation.

5) Continuous Application:- Personnel management is continuously used in every type of situation .pm requires aconstant alertness and aareness of human relation and their importanace in everyday operations.

Functions of prsonnel management-

Managerial function-: 1.Planning involves the values:a) determining the needs of the persons. b) deciding the sources of procuring them c) Determining training needs of personnel d) selecting motivation for getting good performance from employee First stem in planning is the detrmination of human resources needs.There should be sufficient no of personsin the organisationso that all jobs properly performed.planning involves thinking in advance about the requirment of manpower. 2. Organising:-Organising is the process of allocating the task among its members for achieving organisational objectives .This is done by desiegning the structre or relationship among jobs,personal and physical factors.setting up a good organisation structurewhere everybody is clear about his role is the responsibility of personnel mangement. 3.Directing:- it is the basic function of mangerial personnel>,.Directing means telling the people what to do .how to do .and when to do.It does not mean issuing order to employeebut it also ensure that they perform as per the directions.The effectiveness of various plans and policiesfor motivating employen by personnel department. 4.Co-ordination-: Co-ordination of personnel is required at all levels of management . Personnel deparment is co ordinating the task of devloping,interpriting and reviewing personnel policies and progrmme related to employees. 5.Controlling:- Controlling is the act of checking,regulating and varifying wether everything occurs as per the standerd set and plans adopted.controlling function involves reviwing performance and taking corrective measures.

Operating function:- These functions are related to the procuring ,devloping ,componsating,integrating and maintining a work forcefor the attainment of organisation objective. 1.Procurement:- This function relates to the procuring of sufficient and appropriate no of persons for caring out the bussiness work.
