MODULE/ COURSE/ Supply Chain Engineering (INME 4101) NCQF 8
UNIT TITLE
LEVEL
CREDITS VALUE 12 PRE-REQUISITES None COMPONENT TYPE Core
(FUNDAMENTAL/
CORE/ ELECTIVE)
PURPOSE OF THE The aim of this module is to fundamentally present most of the major tasks performed by industrial engineers, and
MODULE the tools that support these tasks in terms of industrial supply chain engineering. The focus is on the organizational
processes, for which these tasks are needed, and the terminology used to describe the tasks, tools, and processes
involved. Look at the whole physical distribution system, financial analysis and trade-off scenarios to arrive at the
best or lowest system cost, integrated logistics management, coordination between the outbound and inbound
logistics systems for increased efficiency and, perhaps, improved customer service through SC performance
measurement systems.
Coverage: Supply Chain Network, Demand Management & Forecasting, Inventory Management, Manufacturing
Flow Management, Supply Chain Integration, Customer & Supplier Relationship Management Process, Supply Chain
Performance Measurement & KPIs, Transport & Logistics.
MODULE This module brings about an understanding of the global dimensions, distribution network design and the role of
OBJECTIVES logistics in Supply Chains (SCs). Learners experience and appreciate the process of sourcing materials and services,
producing goods and services, demand management, order management, inventory management and customer
service in recent times; SC performance measurement and financial analysis, SC technology in managing information
flows, strategic challenges, change for SCs and aligning SCs.
Specific exit learning outcomes are:
● ELO 1: Demonstrate knowledge and ability to creatively apply systematic approach in solving convergent and divergent
supply chain engineering problems.
● ELO 2: Apply knowledge of mathematics, basic science and engineering sciences from first principles to solve complex
