. Give a critical and comparative analysis from all possible cinematic and entertainment angles, of Rock star and Dirty Picture, the two films of 2011 which have been getting most of the awards recently.

Rockstar

Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd. and Eros Internationals Rockstar (UA) Janardhan Jakhar (Ranbir Kapoor) is a simple boy from Delhi who wants to become rockstar such as Jim Morrison whom he idolized. His friends make fun at his dreams of becoming a rockstar. Khatana (Kumud Mishra), who is the only sympathiser of him, tells him that all great musicians in the world have one thing common they have had a big tragedy in their lives theyve had heartbreaks. Heer Kaul (Nargis Fakhri), a rich and arrogant girl who studies in his college. Heers initial irritation and arrogance give way to fondness and later friendship. The friendship grows when Heer invites him to Kashmir for her marriage. Janardhan goes with Heer and helps with the wedding preparations. After marriage, Heer goes off to Prague with her husband. Suddenly, one day, Janardhan gets an opportunity to go to Prague with a few other singers. Once there, he meets Heer who is battling depression. Sparks fly between them and Janardhan and Heer. This shift in Imtiaz Alis own genre touch is bound to polarize the viewers. The scenes where Janardhan hones his craft in the Nizamuddin Dargah and finds that spiritual high in the Kun Faaya Kun segment work to peel away the layers of the Jordan we meet at the beginning. The last cameo by Shammi Kapoor was absolutely wonderful and memorable.The music and background by A.R Rahman is wonderful. Some of the songs were seamlessly integrated into the narrative.Yet Mohit Chauhan, who is just as much a character in the film.

The Dirty Picture

Balaji and Alt Entertainments The Dirty Picture (A) Reshma runs away from home on the day she is to get married as she dreams of a career as a leading lady in films. After a lot of hardships, she gets to show her dancing skills in a film. The films director, Abraham (Emraan Hashmi), deletes the sexy song from the film. However, producer Selva Ganesh (Rajesh Sharma) adds the song and turns a flop film into a successful one. He decides to launch Reshma as a leading lady in his next film with superstar Surya (Naseeruddin Shah). Silk soon becomes a big star as success kisses her feet. Even as Silks career is on a roll, director Abraham falls upon bad times. Silk realises Suryas sexual advances towards her and she finds a sympathiser in Ramakant (Tusshar), the younger brother of Surya and a struggling film writer.But her fortune goes worst and she loses form as an actress. Silks downfall begins and she is unable to handle it. She decides to herself produce a film starring herself. Her film opens the same day as director Abrahams film does. As luck would have it, her film bombs at the box-office while Abrahams film clicks. Vidya Balan deserves the highest praise for accepting the role of an actress Naseeruddin Shah is first-rate as the lecherous superstar. Tusshar shines in a role thats quite different from the usual hero roles.. Emraan Hashmi delivers a memorable performance, first as the frustrated and failed director and then as a guy in love. Mangal Kenkre as Reshmas foster-mother. Vishal-Shekhars music is hit. The Ooh la la song is already a rage The Ishq sufiyana song is also beautiful. The Naku muka song, playing in the background (music by Vijay Anthony) is appealing. Bobby Singhs camerawork is lovely.

Comparative Analysis. Rockstar & The Dirty Picture are the most entertaining and bag large amount and awards of year 2011.Both the films depicts the struggle of a common Boy and Girl who dreams to be something in the society. The storyline of both the movies are the struggle and passion of both the lead characters. They have a strong passion and they fight hard for it. Ranbir Kapoor wants to became a big Rock star and tries all the possible way as he can and people says around him. Whereas Vidya Balan dreams of becoming a film star. Despite her talent, she has to give her co-star sexual favours. The film traces her journey from being a struggler to a superstar and then a fading star. In her journey, she has affairs with three men. She also work very hard faces many absurd situations to achieve success. The Music in Rockstar by A.R Rahman is wonderful and hilarious SADDA HAQ has became National Anthem for youth. On another handside Ooh la la song is a rage.The Direction in Rockstar by Imtiaz Alis is awesome and hilarious and The Dirty Picture by Milan Luthria is superb. Both the Movies are blessed by lovely Suffi Songs spiritual high in the Kun Faaya Kun in Rockstar is spiritually high song and Ishq sufiyana song is also beautiful in The Dirty Picture. Critical Analysis The narrative style is also a bit confusing for the audience as overlapping scenes have been used to further the drama.Apar from all the clapworthy/whistleworthy/laugh-worthy scenes dialogues are very double mean and does not sound well .
