Dear Sir
I am Raman, a resident of Gandhinagar. I am writing to you to raise the issue people face in
my locality due to the bad condition of the road. The road leading to Public School is so congested
throughout the day.
It is the main road but there are potholes everywhere on the road. Mainly during the
morning hours, people are facing horrible situations when they are going to their workplaces. A
Public School is also situated on this road. So, school students and parents get irritated as they are
stuck here very often in traffic jams. These locality people made many representations to the
government, but no action has been taken so far to improve the bad condition of the road.
That is why now through this letter we want to draw the attention of the Govt. As the
situation is not good, I request you to highlight it through your newspaper. So that the Govt will take
some action to improve the road condition.
Thanking You

Subject: Absence of playground in our locality
Dear Sir
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to bring the attention of the
concerned authorities towards the absence of the playground and sports facilities in our locality.
These are the necessary activities for all age peoples in current times. The increase in
pollution, contracting open space due to industrialization, an increase in traffic, etc. have
contributed to the decline of the environment and human health. The absence of open spaces in the
residential areas and townships has further provoked the issue. The lack of playgrounds and open
spaces has deprived the joy of children playing outdoor games. So, it has affected their physical
growth and development.
I request the concerned authorities to look into this problem. So that they will provide a
playground and sports facilities in our locality.
Thanking You
Yours sincerely

ARTICLE WRITING
A. Recent floods in many metropolitan cities of the country during the monsoon season
laid bare the hollowness of the claims of the civic authorities of their preparedness. The
poor had to bear the brunt of the problem while no one was ever held accountable. Write
an article in 150 – 200 words on the common man’s woes during the monsoons and the
need for accountability of the officials concerned. You are Sumit/Smita Verma. (SOURCE-
CBSE 2018)
Answer: COMMON MAN’s WOES DURING MONSOON
-by Sumit/ Smita Verma
The much awaited Monsoon brings respite from the scorching heat.
But monsoon and madness walk together. Every year during the monsoons, chaos reigns
supreme.
The roads are flooded; the sewage system collapses; a huge loss of
crops, fruits, life, and property is caused. Water logging and breeding of mosquitoes
together becomes the reason for a lot of people falling ill. Network connectivity gets weak.
In spite of 71 years of independence, the Indian Government has not been able to tackle the
flood problem caused by monsoons.
Recent floods have laid bare the hollowness of the claims of the civic
authorities of their preparedness. The poor had to bear the brunt of the problem. One of
the causes behind this chaos is the lack of strict laws and accountability of the officials and
the Ministries responsible for tackling the floods.
The Government must formulate and pass strict laws regarding the
projects launched to relieve people of their distress but there is hardly a sign of effective
implementation of the scheme. There needs to be strict accountability. When the Ministers
will be accountable, they will ensure the officers, officials involved in the projects surely
create foolproof systems.
It is only through strict accountability laws, the system can be made
efficient.
Thank you.
B. By 2050, India will be amongst the countries which will face acute water shortage. You
are Yousuf Ali / Fouzia. You are highly alarmed and terrified of the future world without
water. So, write an article on “Save water- are we doing enough?” for the local daily in
150-200 words. (SOURCE- SAMPLE QUESTION PAPER 2018-19)
C. Answer: SAVE WATER- ARE WE DOING ENOUGH?
- By Yousuf Ali / Fouzia
Many people are living with less water than they need, whether in the world's
most prosperous cities or in its bountiful agricultural heartlands. Droughts have also become
more frequent, more severe, and affecting more people around the world. As many as four
billion people already live in regions that experience severe water stress for at least one
month of the year. With populations rising, these stresses will only mount.
Water is the precious gift of God on earth. Life exists on the earth because of
the availability of water. It being tasteless, odourless and colourless, it adds taste, colour
and nice smell in the life of living beings on the Earth. Here are different methods we can
follow to save clean drinking water and deal with the water scarcity.
Rain water harvesting is one of the most effective and suitable methods
among save water techniques. Afforestation is also a good method as it reduces the surface
runoff and recharges the groundwater. It promotes underground water conservation. By
practicing such methods we can conserve more water naturally and ensure the availability
of it for future generations.
We should take a pledge and make it a lifelong motto to preserve water
because, “If you conserve water, it means you conserve life.”
Thank you.

Place: Pune Magazine Writer
Animal Lovers Club was recently invited by the Mahatma Gandhi Animal Care Home
for a visit where an opportunity to oversee the working of the organisation was given. It is a
home to abandoned pets, rescued animals and the ones injured on the streets.
There were many old animals as well. It was astounding to see the quality of care the
animals are being given. They have a family-like environment for them. This helps them to
heal faster and stay happy. The animal home has all the facilities ranging from well-
equipped medical room to a veterinary surgeon.
Regular check-ups of those unwell by a team of veterinary specialists are carried out.
The surroundings are animal-friendly as well. They are not being ruthlessly kept in cages.
They have green surroundings with enough space for them to play and nurture.
Mahatma Gandhi Animal Care Home is doing a wonderful job by understanding and
fulfilling the needs of those who can’t speak for themselves. The experience was an
overwhelming one.

Traffic police have launched a particular drive against pollution-causing vehicles. This has led to
traffic jams and crowds at essential intersections. Write a report in 120-150 words to be published in
the ‘Chennai Times.’ You are Prince/Priya, 12, M.G. Road, Adayar, Chennai.
Drive against Pollution-causing Vehicles
Date: 12 October 2023 - Priya
Place: Chennai Staff Reporter, Chennai Times
Chennai Traffic Police have launched a drive against pollution-causing vehicles all across the
city from 10 October 2023. The city witnessed severe traffic jams in Chennai because of the special
drive.
Critical intersections have been chosen, and the concerned people can be seen in groups
stationed at these points. Each and every vehicle is being stopped, and their ‘No Pollution
certificates’ are being checked. Rs 1000/- is being charged as a fine for the lapse.
This drive is a positive step in achieving a pollution-free environment but has created a lot
of inconvenience for the public and the daily commuters, leading to traffic jams. People are stranded
on the roads for hours, getting late for their place of work. Though the new drive is highly
appreciated by the people, they also feel that it is essential that the public should not suffer.
The authorities must find an alternative way for such a check that would cause less
inconvenience to the general public.
