Plot: The movie starts out in an auction in 1919, at the Paris Opera House. Raoul, a wheelchair bound man, purchases a music box, bidding against Madame Gury. The scene then turns to Paris Opera House, only its in its prime, in the 1870s. The phantom drives off the opera houses main, and rudest performer, Carlotta, after a new set of owners arrive. Christine, who is taught by the phantom, is kidnapped by him, and she first sees his real face. Christine is loved by the phantom and Raoul, yet she loves them both, in different ways. Christine is followed to her fathers grave, by both Raoul and the phantom. Raoul is seconds away from killing the phantom, but Christine pleads. The opera house management plan to kill the phantom after preforming his opera Don Juan Triumphant. Christine takes the phantoms mask, and phantom cuts down the chandelier into the audience, and kidnaps Christine once more. Raoul comes to try and save Christine, and after expressing her love of Raoul and the phantom, Raoul and Christine are let go. It then returns to 1919. Raoul takes the music box to Christinas grave, where he finds a rose with a black ribbon tied to it on her grave, the phantoms trademark, along with a wedding ring. What I thought of it: I think this musical was pretty good. It was kind of confusing at first, but as more story was told I understood it more. I liked the music, because it was fun and creative, but also serious when it was supposed to be. The actors and actresses were emotion when it was time to be, but they were also excited and fun when they could be. They were almost synced when it came to the ballet and dancing. You

could tell they practiced, and spent a lot of time and effort working on it. Most of the singing was enjoyable with the exception of Carlotta, and some of the stage singers. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone. Random Facts: y y y y They spent $60,000,000.00 to produce this movie. In the box office alone, Phantom of the Opera grossed over $154,648,000. It was nominated for 3 Oscars. It won 6 other awards, and was nominated 27 times for awards.
