28. A fast train takes 3 hours less than a slow train for a journey of 600 km. If speed of the slow
train is 10 km /hr less than that of the fast train, find the speed of the two trains
OR
Speed of a boat in still water is 15 km /hr. It goes 30 km upstream and returns back to the same
point in 4 hours 30 minutes. Find the speed of the stream.
29. In the given figure, ABCD is a parallelogram. AE divides the line segment BD in the ratio l: 2. If

It can take 12 hours to fill a swimming pool using two pipes. If the pipe with larger diameter is
used for 4 hours and the pipe of smaller diameter for 9 hours, only half the pool can be filled.
How long would it take for each pipe to fill the pool separately?
34. A circus tent made of canvas and is in the form of a right circular cylinder and right circular cone
above it .The diameter and height of the cylindrical part of the tent are126m and 5m
respectively. The total height of the tent is 21 metre. Find the total cost of the tent if the canvas

35. From a point on the ground, the angle of elevation of the bottom and the top of a transmission
tower fixed at the top of a 20 m high building are 45 0 and 60 0 respectively. Find the height of
the tower.
OR
The lower window of a house is at a height of 2 m above the ground and its upper window is
4 m vertically above the lower window. At a certain instant the angles of elevation of a balloon
from these windows are observed to be 60 0 and 30 0 respectively. Find the height of the balloon
about the ground.
SECTION – E
36. Your elder brother wants to buy a car and plans to take loan from a bank for his car. He repays
his total loan of Rs 1,18,000 by paying every month starting with the first instalment of Rs 1000.
If he increases the instalment by Rs 100 every month , answer the following:
i) Find the amount paid by him in 30th instalment.
ii) Find the total amount paid by him after 30 instalments.
37. In the middle of a tile there is a shaded circular portion as shown.
The radius of shaded portion is 21 cm. The unshaded portion subtends an angle of 60° at the
centre as ,shown .OA is radius. Answer the questions based on above information:
i) What is the length of the arc AB?
ii) What is the area of minor sector AOB?
iii)Find the area of minor segment corresponding to chord AB.
OR
Find the area of major segment corresponding to chord AB?
38. Following are the questions of Section A in assessment test on circles that Ishwar attended last
month in school. He scored 5 out of 5 in this section.
Answer the questions given below.
i) If two tangents AB and CD drawn to a circle with centre O at P and Q respectively, are
parallel to each other, then what can you say about PQ?
ii) If 𝑙 is a tangent to the circle with centre O and line m is passing through O intersects
the tangent 𝑙 at point of contact , then what can you say about 𝑙 and m?
iii) Prove that the tangents from the external point are equal in measure.
