IV. Procedures
A. Introduction` What I need to know?
The learners will be guided with the objective for
the day’s lesson.
Subsequently, the content of the lesson would be
presented.
Learning objectives will also be introduced to
guide the learners on the learning targets
founded on KSAV principles.
What’s new?
The learners will do a short warm up activity
before the start of the lesson.
A video of Barack Obama’s victory speech on
2018 would be presented to the students. They
will observe how does the former president of
the United States delivers his speech to a
thousand of people in America. They will take
down notes about their observation on the video.
The learner’s observation would be presented to
the class before the formal lesson begins.
B. Development What I know?
The learners will answer a 15-item pre-test to
determine their first-hand knowledge about
different cues about verbal and non-verbal
communication.
After answering the teacher, together with the
class, will check if their answers are correct based
on the definition of the two.
What’s In?
The teacher will discuss the definition of verbal
and non-verbal communication and its different
forms in communicating.
They will go back on the video that they’ve
watched to identify the specific changes using the
forms of verbal and non-verbal communication.
They will determine if the mood changes
depending on the words that were said during
the speech.
What is it?
The learners will be provided with another set of
video clips that came from various movie scenes,
music videos, and other speeches. They will
determine how did the tones, gestures, etc. differ
depending on the situation that was presented.
To develop more and to enhance their basic
knowledge about verbal and non-verbal
communication, a re-enactment from the class
would be done either individually or by-pairs to
demonstrate how can they apply it on their
conversations.
This can help them in developing their
communication skills through this short reflective
activity.
C. Engagement What’s more?
The learners will perform the group activity that
was indicated in the module. Each group will
perform a 3-minute roleplay that revolves around
a movie scene, a situational event, or a scene
from a tv series which each of the groups would
pick. They should be able to express the various
forms of verbal and non-verbal cues on the
scenes that they were given.
These varying activities will help them in involving
themselves in deeper learning on the target
concepts about verbal and non-verbal
communication.
What I can do?
The learners will perform real-life tasks
identified based on the activities that were
given. These activities are: a.) acting a specific
social activity e.g. meeting a group of colleagues
at a coffee shop b.) reenacting a movie scene c.)
doing a talk show interview.
They are expected to reflect on the process of
performing the tasks while focusing on their
learned concepts about verbal and non-verbal
communication.
What other enrichment activities can I engage in?
(Additional Activities)
To further enrich learners’ knowledge, skills and
attitude/values (KSAVs), they will be doing a
part on the grading process of those that will
conduct the role play. Each student will be given
a rubric pointing system to determine if the
executed performance fits the learning
competencies of the day.
D. Assimilation What I have learned?
In formulating or creating bits of information
reflective of what they have learned during
the Development and Engagement phases,
the learners will answer the questions
focusing on the given topic. The given
questions are directed on synthesizing their
learned information based on the given
content.
They are expected to relate their learned
concepts to their personal lives especially
during communicating with other people.
What I can do? (Assessment)
The learners will answer the questions
provided.
They may check their answers using the key
answer found at the latter part of the module.
V. Reflection The learners, in their notebook, journal or
portfolio will write their personal insights
about the lesson using the prompts below.
