Course: Reading KI

Course Description:

This course starts with beginning reading exercise and then progress towards the introduction of phonetic sounds, letter recognition, blending, and decoding.
Incorporated in the lessons are short rhymes, creative songs, and light stories to make the learning package a fun experience for the children,

The goal of this course is to make the children enjoy their first book encounter while learning how to read. believing that the exciting activities herein provided
will be retained in the pupils’ memories, and as they grow older, will create in them the genuine interest and motivation to read.

Rationale:

Reading allows us to be transported from our own world to another. Between the pages of a book, we can become immersed in the lives of fictional
characters and learn about a culture entirely different from our own. We can also learn new words and phrases, experience a range of emotions, and acquire skills
and knowledge.

Because of the learning potential, the effects of reading on child development are vast and multiple studies have highlighted its benefits. As such, teachers and
parents are in a great position to ensure reading is a key part of children’s daily routine. With this provided activities, they are expected to be better recipients and
speakers of the English language.
Entry Requirements:

The incoming Kinder I students are expected to recognize sounds of different objects and animals, identify some letters of the alphabet and its
sounds,.Each student is expected to respond to the questions formulated and express their ideas by using the learning they have learned from the previous grade.

Grade Level Standard:

At the end of this course, the Kinder I learners are expected to have the knowledge and have understood the name and sounds of the letters as well as
blending letters. The learner demonstrates basic language skills using a variety of media and uses these to learn varied [Link] learner listens for
