Unit 1 AO3

Introduction In this unit we will be looking at two contrasting public services and pick two jobs in that public service and write in detail what they do. For example in police a job would be a dog handler and police officer and with army infantry and pilot. Police Police Officer Dog Handler Raid Squad Constable Communications Officer Armed Response Investigator Finance Assistant Chief Of Police Administrator Forensics Army Infantry Bomb Squad Paratrooper Light Gunner Tank Commander SAS Officer Infantry Musician Security Guard Military Police Electrician Ship repair Engineer

Police The jobs I will be looking at is these two Police Officer

The job of a Police Office is very important! Because law enforcement is needed all the time, Police Officers work during the night and on weekends and holidays. Some Police Officers spend their days patrolling on foot or in special vehicles, looking for any types of law violations, handing out tickets, and responding to emergencies. At other times, Police Officers work on investigations or make arrests. They also must write up reports and sometimes appear in court. (From a website called Wyzz). So basically this is saying what kind of things the officers do morning and night.

We're an integral part of the community - as much at home at major sporting events as we are in local classrooms. Our work is based in, around and for the local communities that we serve. That's why it's important our officers are respectful of the culture and beliefs of others. (Police Prep). My understanding of this is that they are talking about were about in the community they work and how they are respected. It must be noted that the responsibilities of a police officer/constable are extremely broad and not in any way limited to the duties mentioned above. Police are expected to be able to respond in some fashion to any and all situations that may arise while they are on duty. Also police must act as government officials in the cases of investigation. In some communitys rules and procedures governing conduct and duties of police officers requires that they act if needed even when off duty. (Police Recruitment). (My understanding of this is that it is outlining the main responsibilities of the officer). Income

Dog handler

As a dog handler, you would work with a specially trained dog and have responsibility for its care and control. You would work mainly for the police, the army and RAF, UK Border Agency, HM Revenue and Customs service, or private security firms. (This shows that to be a dog handler you dont just have to be in the police). To be a dog handler I think you would need to be good with dogs and animals also to be patient to train the dog. You will keep your dog in your house and feed it and clean it. You will get the dog for free because you cant just go and buy your own German Sheppard. The Work
