Track_89
Female Speaker: The most interesting uh, interesting book I have read is Harry Potter; it
was written by an English writer, named JK Rowling, and um, the reason I like it is
because uh, firstly, it shows how a boy grows up um, because he’s different from others,
he has the magic powers, and uh, the book describes uh, the his special situation in this
world. And the second reason is um, the way the writer uh, communicate with the
readers really lead you into the story and their beautiful language is um, very enjoyable.
That’s why I think this Harry Potter is pretty interesting.
Track_90
Female Speaker: I love to read the book about consumer behavior because I believe
that each consumer, each individual have their own characteristic and uh, behavior.
And . . . the different character and behavior will impact on the decision that they make
for purchasing the product or service. It’s―in the book . . . it’s . . . it’s very interesting . . .
it’s because it’s . . .
Track_91
Female Speaker: I think parents should definitely exercise control over the television
programs that their children watch. This is because of the fact that children do not know
what is good and bad for them at their stage. As parents, it is our responsibility to see
and check our control, and check control over children at each and every stage. Often,
children are misled by television programs. They might end up watching programs
which are not suitable for their age. In such a case, it is very essential that the parents
know what the children are watching.
Track_92
Male Speaker: I think that the children should be able to watch whatever television
program they choose to because eh . . . I think that uh, they are able to . . . disting the
real thing from not the real things. And that because that I . . . I sure that uh, a child uh,
view television with uh, I’d enjoy, with an enjoy, and not with the eh… real uh . . .
situation . . . and then I . . . think that uh, the liberty is the important thing that I think that
uh . . . children are . . . must have uh, liberty.
Track_93
Male Speaker: The woman make two points in the conversation. The first one is um,
she saying during the construction of the remodeling the, the dorms, they will make a lot
of noise which will affect the students who want to study and sleep. They can
concentrate and keep they can sleep um, which people want to get as far . . . as they
can. They will probably look for . . . get off the campus and live somewhere else.
And the second point is um . . . she saying the price of the dorm fee would be raised
because um, since the college spends those money on reconstruction, then the price
would go up and it will go back to the students, and therefore student will look for the off
campus apartment which seems cheaper and that will people want to go to dorm and,
you know, it will not work. The plan is not gonna work.
Track_94
Female Speaker: The woman was saying that uh, this is not a good idea for the, for the
renovation of uh, the renovation of the campus, because she uh, she thinks that it’s a
mistake, that uh, it will take a lot of time, like two years. Uh, and it will cause a
disturbance, therefore the students who are living there, and um, and after the
construction uh, the man was saying that maybe it’s good after the construction but she
said that uh, no, that they will lo-, that they will lose more students because, as . . . as
the campus area is more expensive, it will be more expensive, and why, by, would . . .
it’s better for uh, student so uh, it’s better for a student to live in an apartment rather
than, rather than the living in a dormitories. Uh, why, why he should uh, spend so
much . . .
Track_95
Male Speaker: According to what I heard from the conversation, an Outsider Art, are,
the artist who uh, live alone, and they live in isolation, out of the society. Also they work
in isolation, and they have their own methods.
Now, to put this checklist that I just said to Darger’s experience, he lived alone; he had
no friends, he had drawn about one hundred paintings, he never showed those
paintings to anybody; he never studied hard, and his work is a unique work in, and he
has his own style. For, for example, in the picture of watercolor uh, when he, when he
told the story of seven children, he cut out picture of the children because he had
difficulties of about putting and drawing the children and posing them, and that this, this
picture was crowded with details. And it was also longer nine feet, that was strange for
an artist, and that’s because, that’s makes him outsider . . .
Track_96
Female Speaker: Uh, Darger was considered a Outsider Artist for two reasons. The first
reason, the people, person, he was a man who was different of the contemporary. He
lived alone and worked alone, and he doesn’t care of the point of view of the other. The
_(?) his painting. It was a different art. That mean his production was totally innovate,
and it produce a new way of painting and design. His form, his color, and material was
totally um, new, and that’s why he has make a big difference um, the American art
history. And it was considered as a modernist and contemporary. Uh, that’s why we can
say of him it was Outsider Art.
Track_97
Female Speaker: The problem is, the problem that the two eh, two students were talking
about is that um, one student has the possibility to get a summer research position but
he didn’t apply for a dorm room. Since he had not heard from, since he had no
confirmation from the professor he had been doing the uh, he is going to be doing the
research for.
So um, he’s likely to stay with his parents which are, who are living two hours away from
campus, which means he has to come in and get home every day for two-, for four
hours. This is a lot of time spending and this is not exactly what he wants but he thinks
an apartment is very expensive for him to rent.
I personally think it would be wiser for him to stay in his own apartment to save time,
energy, even if the cost is higher because he has to concentrate on this important
research project, and it will benefit on the long run more from him, more for him than if
he does . . .
Track_98
Male Speaker: Uh, hi. The problem is that the . . . this student want to make a summer
research and he didn’t hear about uh, from his professor or his instructor any-anything,
so he didn’t apply to the dormitory or in campus, uh . . . resident halls, and so he has
this problem that this uh, he has to drive two hours from uh, school and his parents’
home, and uh, outside, or . . . rent a . . . off-campus apartment or room, and in . . .
the . . . the first situation that he has to drive, that to cost him a lot because he will uh . . .
he will pay for the gas and it will be like, I think it’s a headache to drive like two hours
going up and two hours going back and then the um, apart from the campus, it will cost
him maybe more but it will be more convenient and he will consider . . .
Track_99
Male Speaker: According to the lecture, both unity and contrast are important and
integral parts of effective interior designing. Now let’s see about unity. Unity brings in
order. It brings in consistency. For example, colors. The speaker had mentioned about
using different grades, or shades of the same color, for example green, to bring about
unity. And again, unity will bring in order and comfort.
However, too much of unity is also boring thing. That’s what she said, and therefore um,
comes into picture the second important aspect, which is contrast. Contrast is the
sudden change from uh the _(?) pattern and what it will bring is disruption. As a result of
which, it will enhance um, the design, for example, putting bright red cushions on the
green um, sofa. So basically uh, contrast and uh, unity . . .
Track_100
Female Speaker: Unity and contrast are what are used in interior decoration, most
importantly in homes and in offices. When we say unity, unity has to be in consistence
of colors, they’re for example, green, deep green, and light green. Then to what to build
the walls and green rug on dried. But you need contrasting thing to blend the application.
If you use contrast it’s going to work with this better. Because contrast goes with _(?)
anyway. For there for example of them would be speaker says she puts the red color on
edge of a green room is going to stand out. But you don’t have to use too much contrast,
because if you use too much contrast, it’s going to make the room busy and make it
chaotic, it’s not going to be very beautiful. Most important, always important, unity and
contrast in interior decoration.
