How to do a bobble st:
[yarn over, insert through st and pull yarn through].
There are now 3 loops on your hook. [Yarn over then pull
through two loops, leaving two loops (or however many
loops depending on how many times you have repeated
this step) on your hook]. Repeat the bracketed steps,
pulling your yarn through 2 loops each time until you end
up with 5 loops on your hook. Pull through all 5 loops to
finish the st. Push the bobble out, it will be inverted if you
don't.
*Pretend like you are doing double crochets, but not
pulling through the second time to finish it.
arms make 2
*When you start your ch, leave a long tail for
attaching.

R11: sc 4, inc (*6 times; 36)
Place safety eyes between rows 8&9, 3 sts
apart. Embroider mouth.
R12-15: sc in each st (36)
To attach arms, pull your yarn tails through
to the inside of the body, one tail between
rows 10&11 and the other tail between rows
11&12. Tie and double knot to secure. Space
them approx. 12 sts apart.
The first st is sort of hidden
by the bobble but you need
6 sts between the feet
R16: this is the row where you will add the
feet. The feet are based off where you placed
the face. *You want the feet placement
slightly wider than the face.
The feet spacing is 6 sts.
Other than the 2 bobble sts, you will just be
sc in each st. (36)
this is about
where you want
your first foot.
tip: if you don’t like
the arms being floppy,
glue them in place!
R17: sc 4, inv dec (*6 times; 30)

Attach safety eyes between rows 4&5, 3 sts

*The bobble sts for baby Pete’s feet are different.
To do the modified BO st you will only have 4
loops to pull through instead of 5. Basically,
remove a yo-pull through when forming the feet.*
R10: sc each st except for the 2 BO where
the feet go. (24) the feet should be approx. 5
sts apart.
R11: sc 2, inv dec (*6 times; 18)
R12: inv dec each st (*9 times; 9)
Fasten off and close hole with yarn tail.
hat using any color you would like!
- Start by making the pompom! You can use
a pompom maker, cardboard, or your
fingers*.
*To make a pompom with your fingers, use the same
color you will use for the brim and wrap it around your
index and middle finger about 15 times. Gently slide the
loops off your fingers, keeping them how they were on
your fingers. Take a piece of yarn and tie it around the
loops leaving the yarn tails long. Cut through the loops
and begin trimming your pompom to desired fluffiness.
R1: ch 2, sc 6 in 2nd ch from hook (6)
R2: inc each st (*6 times; 12)
R3: sc, inc (*6 times; 18)

Fasten off and weave in yarn tails. Attach
your pompom to the top of the hat, centered.
