Zeta Iota Alumnae Newsletter

Hello Sisters!
Sisters! This newsletter is to tell you all about the happenings of the Zeta Iota chapter of Alpha Delta Pi. Monthly events we have had, upcoming philanthropy events, and opportunities for alumnae to be involved will all be posted in here! Pi Love, Danielle Davis Zeta Iota Alumnae Relations Chair

A Big Welcome!
This year Alpha Delta Pi at Georgia College hosted informal recruitment in February. We had all kinds of Dips and Desserts at the house that were made by our chapter members and were absolutely delicious! After recruitment we invited two lovely young women to be a part of our chapter. Abby Slocumb and Lindsey Knott are the two wonderful members of the Alpha Class of Spring 2012. We are very excited to have them!

Spring Recruitment
A little information on our Spring Recruitment and our newest Alpha members!

Dips and Desserts!

Our spring recruitment was an informal Dips and Desserts party. Sisters brought food and decorated the house and then had nine potential new members come at 7:30 to enjoy the party. It was a fun time for all. After the event, we were excited to extend bids to two wonderful young women!

Bid Day
The day after the Dips and Desserts Party, we celebrated Bid Day! Bid Day was a pizza party where we got to know our new alpha members and have some sister time! Our theme was Are You Ready for the Time of Your Life? The event would not have been possible without the hard work of our Member Education Vice President, Lindsey Shelton, and our New Member Coordinator, Kelsey Taylor (pictured below at the event). Mary Parker Daughtery designed the adorable Spring Recruitment t-shirt (on left).

Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Visit

Saturday February 24th, Zeta Iota was given a very exciting opportunity! The Atlanta Ronald McDonald House (ARMH) invited Zeta Iota members to tour the house, bake some goodies, and learn about our amazing philanthropy! Lauren Chandley, who you may recognize from the cover of the most recent Adelphean, and Kristi Cantrell both work for Ronald McDonald House Charities and graciously hosted us! Both sisters are alumnae from our chapter! Zeta Iota got the opportunity to tour the wonderful ARMH property, bake goodies for the families staying there, and learn exactly how we can contribute to the Ronald McDonald House. Did you know that since Alpha Delta Pi has partnered up with the Ronald McDonald House in 1979, we have raised over five million dollars for the charity? We also learned that wonderful organizations, such as Coca-Cola, AT&T, Tempur-Pedic, and HP all contribute to making the Ronald McDonald House a welcome safe haven for sick children and their families. HP is even doing an event now to raise money for Ronald McDonald House where anyone can send a picture to the Ronald McDonald House of his or her choice and a dollar will be donated to the house! Atlantas Gatewood House is currently the participating house in Georgia, so be sure to send a picture online!

Zeta Iota February Events

This month Zeta Iota had a lot of fun events as sisters! On February 13th, Zeta Iota had a sisterhood Valentines Day movie night at the house. We all cuddled up and watch Breaking Dawn together. We also had a social with Delta Sigma Phi that was themed GI Joes and GI Janes. It was fun to dress up in our army gear and dance the night away!

King Of Diamonds
What is King of Diamonds?
King of Diamonds is Zeta Iotas annual spring Lion Share Challenge! In other words, its a chance for Zeta Iota to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. It is a male pageant, where different males from various campus organizations get onstage to strut their stuff. The event promotes school unity and gives a chance for Alpha Delta Pi to interact with the many organizations we have at Georgia College.

When is it?
This years event will be on Wednesday March 7th from 8pm-10pm in the Arts & Sciences Building. If you live in Milledgeville or the nearby area and have some free time on Wednesday night, be sure to stop by. It will be a lot of fun and its a great way to spread awareness about our national philanthropy.

How Can Alumnae Help?

Alumnae can help with King of Diamonds by sending a contribution to the Alpha Delta Pi House. Part of what makes our event such a huge success is the donation we get from family and friends through the letter writing campaign! If you would like to donate please send a check to the Alpha Delta Pi house address. Be sure to write King of Diamondsin the for section! The house address is: Zeta Iota 150 N. Clark Street Milledgeville, GA 31061

District Leadership Conference 2012

During Homecoming, twelve officers were at District Leadership Conference at the Atlanta Renaissance Waverly Hotel. Although these officers were sad to miss the Homecoming festivities, they learned all about improving our chapter, their positions, and got to hang out with some International Officers!
The officers and advisors at DLC with their long chain of ribbons listing Zeta Iotas awards won at DLC!

Life as an Alumna
Zeta Iota wants to better stay in touch with all of our wonderful Alumnae! To do that, we need your help ladies! Make sure to update your contact information on PRIDE online, so we can better stay in touch with you and join the alumnae facebook page, Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae-Zeta Iota. Zeta Iota also has a twitter, adpiGCSU, so be sure to follow us! Another way you can help is by getting the word out. Let your fellow alumnae know that these resources are available to them.
