Early Life and Career

Born Beyonc Giselle Knowles on September 4, 1981, in Houston, Texas. Beyonc started singing at an early age. As a child, she competed in local talent shows. Beyonc won many of these events by impressing audiences with her natural singing and dancing abilities. Teaming up with her cousin Kelly Rowland and two classmates, Beyonc formed an all-female singing group. Her father, Matthew Knowles, served as the band's manager. The group went through some name and line-up changes before landing a record deal in 1997 with Columbia Records. Destiny's Child soon became one of the most popular R&B acts with the release of their first self-titled album. Gaining momentum, the group scored its first No. 1 single on the pop charts with "Bills, Bills, Bills" off their second album. The recording also featured another smash hit, "Say My Name." While enjoying her group's success, Beyonc began exploring other projects. She made her acting debut in 2001 with a starring role in MTV's Carmen: A Hip Hopera. She then co-starred with Mike Myers in the spy parody Goldmember the following year. On the musical front, Beyonc took center stage as a solo artist, releasing her first album, Dangerously in Love, in 2003. The recording became a huge success for her, both commercially and critically. It sold millions of copies and won five Grammy Awards. On the album, Beyonc worked with a number of different artists, includingMissy Elliott, Sean Paul and Jay-Z. She was rumored to be dating Jay-Z around this time, but the couple did not publicly acknowledge their relationship. Destiny's Child released their last studio album, Destiny Fulfilled, in 2004, and officially broke up the following year.

Solo Career
On her own, Beyonc continued to enjoy great success. Her second studio album, 2006's B'Day featured such hits as "Irreplaceable" and "Beautiful Liar." On the big screen, she starred opposite Jennifer Hudson, Jaime Foxx and Eddie Murphy in Dreamgirls. The film was adapted from the hit Broadway musical of the same name. In 2008, Beyonc married rapper and music mogul Jay-Z in a small, private ceremony in New York City.

Among the guests sighted at the wedding were Beyonc's mother Tina Knowles, her father and manager Matthew, her sister Solange, Destiny's Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and friend Gwyneth Paltrow. The newlywed continued to work as hard as ever, promoting her latest effort, I am . . . Sasha Fierce (2008). Beyonc scored two big hits off the album"Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" and "If I Were a Boy." She also returned to the big screen that year, starring as R&B legend Etta James in Cadillac Records. Early Life
Singer. Born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta on March 28, 1986, to Cynthia and Joseph Germanotta. Germanotta, now known as Lady Gaga, is an international pop star born in Yonkers, New York. Gaga learned to play the piano by the age of four. At the age of 11, she was accepted to the Juilliard School in Manhattan, but instead attended a private Catholic school in the city. She continued studying music and performing, writing her first piano ballad at the age of 13 and holding her first performance at the age of 14 in a New York nightclub. The self-dubbed "Lady Gaga" (she has attributed the inspiration for her name to the Queen song, "Radio Ga-Ga") was granted early admission to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts at the age of 17 - one of only 20 students in the world to receive the honor of early acceptance. While there, she studied music and worked on her songwriting skills. She later withdrew from school in order to find creative inspiration. To make ends meet, she took three jobs - including a stint as a gogo dancer - while she honed her performance-art act.

Professional Debut
In 2005, Lady Gaga was briefly signed by Def Jam Records, but was dropped just months after signing. Being dropped by the label propelled the singer to perform on her own in clubs and venues on New York City's Lower East Side. There, she collaborated with several rock bands, and began her experimentation with fashion.

In 2007, at the age of 20, Lady Gaga began work at Interscope Records as a songwriter for other groups on the label, includingBritney Spears, New Kids on the Block, and The Pussycat Dolls. R&B singer Akon discovered Gaga while she was performing a burlesque show she called "Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue," which she had created to make a name for herself. Impressed, he signed the performer to his label under the Interscope umbrella, Kon Live. Through 2007 and 2008, Lady Gaga wrote and recorded her debut album, The Fame. The record was received positive reviews and popular success in the United States. With the help of her own creative team, "Haus of Gaga," the performer also began to make a name for herself internationally.

Commercial Breakthrough
Lady Gaga's debut single, "Just Dance," was released to radio in early 2008 to both popular and commercial acclaim. The song was then nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Dance Recording in 2008. The song lost to Daft Punk's "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger," but this didn't keep Gaga from reaching No. 1 on the mainstream pop charts in January 2009. The second single off of her album, "Poker Face," earned Lady Gaga even more success. The song topped singles charts in almost every category, and in almost every country. Both songs were produced by Akon's affiliate RedOne, who co-wrote most of Lady Gaga's album. Most recently, Lady Gaga opened for the newly reformed New Kids on the Block. She also collaborated with the group on the song "Big Girl Now" from New Kids on the Block's album The Block. She is now headlining on The Fame Ball Tour, and has announced plans to tour with Kanye West in the very near future. http://www.biography.com/people/lady-gaga-481598

Early Life: Beyonce drew up in Houston, Texas as the daughter of Tina and Matthew Knowles. Her path to performing came early in life; while still in elementary school, her parents enrolled her in dance classes, and her talent for singing also emerged at the same time. As she grew up, she'd perform at school assemblies and talent shows. In 1990, when she was 8, she and 5 other girls were chosen after a series of auditions to form a group of pre-teen song and dance group called Girl's Tyme. Notable other members of the group included Beyonce's friend Kelly Rowland, and Tamar Davis, who would later become a protege of Prince. Destiny's Child: Girl's Tyme did not have much success in the early '90s, and eventually half of the six members left the group. The three remaining members, Beyonc Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and LaTavia Roberson, eventually added a fourth, LeToya Luckett, and after Tina saw the word 'destiny' in her bible next to a picture of the girls tucked there, the group changed it's name to Destiny's Child in 1995. DC was signed to Columbia Records in 1997 and went on to become one of the most successful female vocal groups of all time, despite LaTavia and LeToya leaving the group on bad terms after their second album in 1999. Going Solo: Before the release of the third Destiny's Child album, Survivor in 2001, Beyonce has begun branching out into acting, and later began work on her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. The album was a huge hit when it was released in 2003, selling millions of copies. In 2004, Destiny's Child managed to put out one last album, Destiny Fulfilled, before the group's members decided to focus on solo careers. Since then, Beyonce has continued with both her acting and singing careers, and has also branched out into modeling and fashion.
