HOME ASSIGNMENT FOR SUMMER VACATION
CLASS -10th
(I) ACTIVITY BASED QUESTION
INSTRUCTION TO ACTIVITY BASED QUESTION.
1. Solve each and every question.
2. Solve Activity in separate file
3. Maintain neat handwriting and use pencil to draw the diagram.
1.) Study about carbon resistors and its formula for calculating resistance of carbon resistors.
Make a chart of color code of carbon resistors. Collect some carbon resistors from market
and calculate resistance of each resistor by the help of formula and color code chart.
2.) Design a house hold circuit on paper and draw each and every component which are used in
house hold circuit like (Fuse, Switches, Resistors etc.). Explain the uses of each component. (III)

WORKSHEET
1.) When a 4V battery is connected across an unknown resistor there is a current of 100 mA in
the circuit. The value of the resistance of the resister is:
a) 4 Ω b) 40 Ω c) 400 Ω d) 0.4 Ω
2. Two resistances of 4 Ω and 8 Ω are connected in parallel. What would be the combined
resistance of the system?
3. Two identical resistors each of resistance 2 Ohm are connected in turn (1) in series (2) in
parallel to a battery of 12 V. Calculate the current in each case.
4. Calculate the resistance of 2 km long copper wire of radius 2 mm.
(Resistivity of copper = 1.72 ×10−8)
5. A wire of length 3 m and area of cross-section 1.7 × 10-6 m 2 has a resistance 3 × 10 -2 ohm. a.
What is the formula for resistivity of the wire and what is the unit of it b. Calculate the resistivity
of the wire.
6. A cylindrical conductor of length 1 and uniform area of cross section A has resistance R.
Another conductor of the same material and resistance R has length 21. What will be its area of
cross section?
7. There are three resistors joined in series in a system having resistance equal to 10 Ω, 20 Ω
and 30 Ω respectively. If the potential difference of the circuit is 240 V, find the total resistance

8. There are two electric lamps M and N which are joined in a series having resistance equal to
15 Ω and 20 Ω respectively. If the potential difference between two terminals of electric circuit

difference across the two lamps separately.
9. There are two resistors R1 and R2 having resistance equal to 20Ω and 30Ω respectively are
connected in parallel in an electric circuit. If the potential difference across the electric circuit is
5 V, find the electric current flowing through the circuit and the total resistance of the resistors.
10. There are five electric appliances, viz. electric heater and electric lamp, an electric fan,
computer and an exhaust fan are connected in parallel in a household. The resistance electric
appliances are 40Ω, 5 Ω, 8Ω, 20Ω and 10Ω respectively. If an electric current of 240V is flowing
through the circuit then find:
