Pvilion, a New York City based company uses photovoltaics (PV) to create innovat ive and eco friendly

architectural structures by seamlessly integrating stainles s steel and flexible solar modules through a proprietary patent pending technolo gy. Recently, for battery powered cars it completed and installed a solar chargi ng station named the Solar Sail , at its new eco friendly Renewable Energy Industrial P ark in Pflugerville, Texas. The structure was built and designed at the Brooklyn Navy Yard by the founders o f Pvilion, Robert Lerner, Todd Dalland and Colin Touhey. It is the first of its kind flexible PV panel charging station in Texas, which will assist in promoting Pflugerville Community Development Corporation and the City of Pflugerville. Ac cording to Floyd Akers, Director of the PCDC, the solar sail will act as a sculp tural gateway of solar energy for the city as well as the new industrial park. A s the company is known for the use of lightweight materials, flexible solar pane ls 0.125 inches thick are tensioned on flexible stainless steel sheets to provid e electricity to the utility grid even if the cars are not being charged. The cost of stations is estimated about US$ 85,000 by Colin Touhey, CEO of Pvili on and each design can be customized depending on the needs of the clients.
