Claims Alert; Diabetes Drug Actos causes Bladder Cancer

Actos (pioglitazone) was one of the top drugs used to help control blood sugar levels for patients with Type 2 diabetes whose condition is not sufficiently controlled by diet and exercise alone. Takeda Pharmaceuticals is the manufacturer of Actos. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered a link between bladder cancer and Actos. The risk of bladder cancer was increased with people who took higher dosages. Patients take drugs to make them feel better, to ease their lives. Takeda Pharmaceuticals should have done more research before selling this dangerous drug to the public. If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with bladder cancer after taking Actos, you should call us to see if we can help you get compensation for the harm you have suffered.

John Cooper is Appointed Designated Legal Counsel to Union for Railroad Carmen
John Cooper, an experienced railroad and FELA (Federal Employers Liability Act) attorney, has been appointed as a designated legal counsel to the Carmen Division of the Transportation Communications International Union (TCU). The designation reflects Johns long background in helping workers who have been injured on the railroads of America. The Transportation Communications Union/IAM has about 46,000 members, most of them in the railroad industry. The union represents people who work on the railroads, including clerks, technicians, service workers and carmen. Carmen performs a vital and potentially dangerous job on the railroads. It is their job to keep the freight moving. They have to troubleshoot and perform repairs to freight cars and air brake systems, using knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration and Association rules. As experienced Norfolk, VA FELA lawyers, we are aware of the many dangers facing railroad workers in an area serviced by the big operators, including CSXT, Amtrak and Norfolk Southern.

In 1970, Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin proclaimed April 22 to be "Earth Day," he helped give birth to a historic movement. Earth Day 1970 became the largest organized demonstration in US history. More than 20 million people participated in the event that gave birth to the modern environmental movement.

EARTH DAY IDEAS

The time has come for us to take responsibility for our impact on the environment. There are numerous ways that we can go green without having to drastically change our lifestyle. These following tips not only help you go green, they also save you money. 1. Save Energy To save energy there are several steps that you can take. The first is to lower your thermostat. Just lower the thermostat a few degrees in the winter and raise it a few degrees in the summer. A few degrees will lower your heating and cooling costs all year as well as conserving your energy. Another way to conserve energy is to switch your light bulbs from incandescent to fluorescent light bulbs. Initially these bulbs are slightly more expensive than standard light bulbs but they will save you money in the long run. 2. Save Water This is another easy way to not only go green, but also to save money. Just reduce your shower times a few minutes each day. Turn off the faucet when you are not using it such as when you are brushing your teeth, or when you are lathering your hands and face. Just turning the faucet off during these times will conserve water and energy. 3. Conserve Gas This method of going green will more than likely save you the most money. Walk or ride your bike when you can. Carpool with others to reduce gas consumption. 4. Dont Use Bottled Water Although bottled water is convenient, it is very bad for the environment. It takes hundreds of years for the plastic in bottled water to decompose. This plastic can only be recycled once (unlike aluminum). Instead, purchase a water filter pitcher for your home and use a reusable aluminum water container. 5. Dont Waste your Electronics When you get a new phone, donate your phone or old computer to a group that accepts them. If you cannot find one, just search for one on the internet. Electronic waste has started presenting numerous problems to our environment including Mercury contamination. With these easy ways to go green, you will save the environment while saving a little money.
