Zayn’s Big Win

Zayn’s Big Win

Writing a Short Story

Zayn was a quiet, thoughtful boy who loved building things and learning
how they worked. When his school announced a big science competition, he
got excited but also nervous. He decided to enter with his best friend, Salma,
who was great at ideas and drawing. Together, they worked every day after
school on their project—a robot that could clean classrooms and sort
rubbish. They used recycled parts, wires, and even an old phone for the
robot's brain.

One afternoon, while checking the robot's programming, Zayn saw Omar, a
classmate, watching them closely. Later, he found that Omar had taken
pictures of their project. “He’s trying to steal our idea,” Zayn whispered.
Salma replied calmly, “Let’s just focus and do our best. We know we built
this with hard work.”

On the day of the contest, the hall was full of bright lights, buzzing
machines, and excited students. Zayn’s hands were shaking, but Salma
smiled and said, “You’ve got this.” Zayn stepped up and presented the robot
clearly, explaining how it worked and how it could help the school.

The judges asked questions, and Zayn answered each one confidently. After
all the presentations, the results were announced. Zayn and Salma won first
place! Zayn felt proud—not just because they won, but because he had faced
his fear and stood up for what was right.
