It is a key comprehensive university under the Education Department of Heilongjiang Province which is larger in scale and is more formidable with integrated strength. JU has an area of 1.5 million square meters and its buildings have a floor space of 0.95 million

square meters. JU has a total of 26 colleges with 75 specialties offering bachelors or associate degrees, and 34 academic disciplines authorized to grant masters degrees. The specialties are included in the following ten academic disciplines: literature, natural sciences, technological science, medicine, economics, education, law, history, management and agriculture. JU has a staff of 5137. The number of full-time students is 22616. From this year, JU has been operating its university with an open-door policy. The International Students Education College (ISEC) is one of JUs colleges. Its main rule is to recruit, educate and administrate international students. ISECs office building and dormitory building for international students have a floor space of 30,000 square meters. Every year there are 701 international students at JU coming from more than 50 countries include postgraduate students, undergraduate students, general scholars, short-term courses students etc. Jiamusi University was entrusted with the allocation of Chinese Governments Scholarships to recruit international students himself.
