He does not want to be the owner of his father business, with its crisscross of apple trees, the barns, the storage buildings, the packing house, the cider room, the mechanics shop, the truck and the tractor and three wheelers, the pickers barracks, the foremans place, and the house a little way down the road where his Grampa lives. All that busy work for a bunch of apples. He wants to go to Portland or better still Boston, because its bigger. He wants to be a detective like Gibson, or join the CIA, or be a TV news correspondent or news reporter. Anything to avoid following the footsteps of his father who expects him to take over the family apple orchard business. Paige feels trapped, but cannot bring himself to hurt his father by telling him he want leave the farm. He does not have any braveness to tell his father what he wants to be in his future, because he afraid that his father will feel disappointed with him. Sometime he feels jealous with his sister, Joyce, who has braveness to refuse their parent wishes for her. Mr. Truitt wants her to go to college after she graduated from high school, but she wanted to get married with Earl Sanders after they graduated from high school next June. This summer Mr. Truitt asked him to work on the farm more often, he feels trapped but cannot go anywhere. On this weekday, Paige has to wake up earlier to go to Boston with his father to send the apple for the customers. His father always asked him to go there because his

father wants to teach him how to distribute and to whom the apples will distribute. His father also often introduces the customers to him and it makes him feels very bored. He does not care about learning the business. All customers that he met also expected that he would be running the orchard someday. The next morning after he went to Laurabells house, he met a girl that look like an elf. She is Abby Winch, she came from San Antonio, Texas to spend her summer holiday in her grandfather village. Abby sees the Maine Countryside differently and appreciates its people. She came from city and never saw village views before. The one thing that makes Paige feels bad is that she also expected that he will be running the farm someday. She knew all about Paige from her grandfather. At first, Paige finds her strange, but he feels closer with her though they just already met. Suddenly he told her things that he never mentioned to anyone, not even Cade his girlfriend or Rusty his best friend. Telling her that he wont be running this orchard someday. Like another days in this summer, this morning Paige have to work on the farm again. Today his mom sent him over to Grampas to pile up the firewood. Paige always feels unhappy with his job on the farm, but he has a good responsibility to finished all the work that they asked to him. Along the road, he saw many things that he never paid more attention to that. Abby show him the beauty of his village. Seeing his village through Abbys eyes makes him conscious that his village is wonderful. The journey to the Bibble Corner makes their relationship closer than before. The closeness between Paige and Abby makes Cade feels jealous. He could not believe how could she be jealous of Abby, thirteen years old. He had told her that Abbys new in Maine and she wants see things here.
