MATHEMATICS
Summer Math Quest: “Mathematics in Real Life”
Task: Create a “Maths-in-Action” Scrapbook or Digital Presentation
Complete at least 4 tasks below (choose your own adventure style). Each task should
include:
- A photo/drawing
- A short explanation (2–3 sentences)
- The calculations or observations they made
Task Choices
1. Budget a Family Picnic
- Plan a picnic for 4 people.
- Include prices, estimated costs, and the total budget.
- Use addition, multiplication, and money skills.
2. Geometry Hunt at Home
- Find at least 5 different 2D or 3D shapes around the house.
- Draw or photograph each, label, and write their properties (edges, corners, faces).
3. Time Traveller
- Track how you spend one day during the summer.
- Create a pie chart or bar graph to show how your time was spent (sleeping, playing,
studying, etc.).
4. Math in Cooking
- Help an adult cook something.
- Measure ingredients, scale the recipe up or down, and calculate time taken.
5. Weather Watcher
- Record the temperature at noon for 5–7 days.
- Plot the data and calculate the average temperature.
6. Math Walk
- Take a walk and find patterns, symmetry, numbers on signs, or angles in objects.
- Capture or draw 5 examples and explain what you observed.

1. Nature Journal:
- Keep a nature journal to record observations and drawings of plants, animals, and

2. Science Experiments:

- Research and write about an environmental issue, such as conservation, recycling, or
climate change.
