Vocabulary

1.Innocuous – adjective

Meaning harmless

2.Smug- adjective

Self-satisfied (a smug person often walks around with his chest puffed out his ego leading the way)

3.Exonerate -verb

To clear from blame guilt or accusation

4.Laudable – adjective

Meaning worthy of praise, commendable

5.Capitulate – verb

To surrender – to cease resisting

6. Decorum –

Proper behaviour

Example:

These delinquents have no decorum for school.

7. Exalt-

To be triumph, to rejoice

Example:

Aryan exalted in his studies abroad and got a trophy to reward his hard work.

8. Formidable

A rousie fear, having qualities that discourage approach or attack

Impressive

Example:

The class president was deemed formidable as she got the whole class presents from the school.

9. Sacrilegious

Grossly disrespectful to what is held as scared

10. Serendipity

Good luck or good fortune, act of making fortunate discoveries

11.Petulent- rude in speech or behaviour (childishly ill-tempered)

Shy

EUPHEMISM – when we deliberately soften the impact of something that sounds harsh or unpleasant by replacing
it with mild or pleasant words

Example

My father is an environmental engineer (my father is a garbage collector)

You are intellectually challenged (you are stupid)

You are aesthetically impaired (you are ugly)

1. My relative is economically disadvantaged since he is between jobs (my relative is poor because he is
unemployed)
2. He is facing negative cash flow for the past years (he has debts)
3. The dog is quite big boned (the dog is large)
4. The boy was quite pugnacious (the boy is aggressive)

INNEUDO
indirect remark or statement usually implies something important critical suggestive or negative without
stating out right

Example

The secretary spent a lot of time in the boss’s office, if you know what I mean
