New York
New York
New York (official name in English, State of New York) is one of the 50
states of the United States of America, located in the Mid-Atlantic region
of the country, to the northeast of it. Its capital is Albany. It is the largest center
financial and commercial of the United States, as well as its largest center
industrial. With its 19 million inhabitants, New York is the third state
most populated in the country.
It should not be confused with the homonymous city, the City of New York.
(official name: City of New York, or, informal form: New York City), located
in the southernmost part of the state. Therefore, the state is often referred to as State of
New York. The City of New York is not only the largest city in the state,
with its 10.5 million inhabitants (about half of the state population),
but also the largest city in the United States.
After the war, New York became the 11th state to enter the Union.
on July 26, 1788. It became the most populated in the country by around
1810 (independence of Mexico), although it was surpassed by California in the
the 1960s and Texas in the 1990s.
