REPORT OF COUNCIL MEETING THAT WAS HELD ON THE 2ND OF JULY 20205
The last meeting that was held on the 12 th of May 2025 DENOSA raised their dissatisfaction about
the procurement of uniforms by other provinces as they did not follow the specification according to
the agreement and the quality of the uniform is poor. DENOSA then put a position of centralization
of uniform by the department and rejected the employers offer of paying uniform allowance on or
before the 30th of November 2025. We then suggested that the payment of uniform allowance be
done on or before the end of August 2025.
This mandate is supported by Organized Labour as a collective.
Employer came with the notion that there are Provinces who are ready to procure uniform for nurses
in this fiscal year. And that they must be exempted from uniform allowance payment. (Documents
were shared as to readiness of Provinces.) The provinces that were deemed ready are: Limpopo,
Northwest, and Mpumalanga. That notion was rejected by labour. Employers acted in bad faith and
disregarded Labour’s concerns.
Labour displayed pictures of uniform samples from all three provinces that the employer claims that
they are ready. Employer mention it is the first time they have seen it in this Council.
DECISION
• Employer will revert in 2 weeks (Special Council) with draft amendment as provided by Labour
referring to centralization.
• Discussion ensued that Provinces are discussing with Employer in their respective Chambers
and decisions taken at that level, whilst there are discussions at national level contrary to what is
discussed in Provinces (National task team on uniform was disbanded but provincial task team
are still active).
• Employer must pay the allowance in all provinces before August as per the directive to Provinces
and what to agree to with Labour. Inclusive of Provinces claiming they are ready.
