"You were the person I secretly admired for so long. But today... I want
you to notice me, too."

I used to be just "someone who liked your posts."

I watched you from afar, read everything you shared, viewed your stories,
and sent little hearts—without you ever knowing.

I once thought... just being here, quietly watching you, was enough.

Just seeing you smile, knowing you were happy, was all I needed—even if I
didn’t exist in your world.

But sometimes... fate plays strange games.

Years passed, and we crossed paths again.

This time, you reached out to me first.

It felt like a coincidence, but deep down, I knew it wasn’t just that—not for
me.

The heart I thought had "moved on" started beating fast again.

This time... I won’t be just "someone who likes your posts."

This time... I want you to know that I love you.

What began as a one-sided love in our school days...

Has become a second chance at love in our adult lives.

And this time, I won’t let it slip away as just another impossible dream.

A DM SENT BECAUSE OF ONE GLASS OF WINE

It was a Friday night that should've been filled with someone's laughter
beside her.

Instead, only the glow of her phone screen reflected Ploy's silhouette on the
wall.

Half a glass of red wine remained in a tall glass beside her.

Her fingers scrolled aimlessly through the blue-colored app, digging

through old posts without purpose.

'Mind updated her photo.'

Without thinking, Ploy tapped in.

It was a photo of Mind in a blue dress, standing in front of a mirror, smiling
softly at the camera-naturally, just like always.

She scrolled through the comments below, and one line caught her eye:

"Single now, ugh. So sad." - Mind, replying to a friend.

Ploy's heart skipped a beat.

Mind is... single?

She stared at the words for a moment, then tapped into Mind's profile,
scrolling through older posts that used to feature her girlfriend-now all
gone.

Only casual posts with friends remained.

Ploy let out a soft sigh and set her wine glass down.

She picked up her phone again and, without really thinking, opened their
old chat on Messenger.

The last message between them was from 2015.

.
.

Ploy:
"Mind, you forgot your class notes in the room. Want me to bring them to
you?"

Mind:
"Omg really? Thank youuu. Yes please! Love yaa 😘"

Ploy:
"Okay, I'll leave them on your desk."

Mind:
"You're the best!"

Ploy adjusted her glasses, eyebrows furrowing slightly.

She remembered that moment clearly-how she had picked up Mind's
forgotten notes from the back of the classroom.

Her heart had pounded as she walked over to return them. Mind smiled at
her casually, probably without thinking much of it.

But for Ploy... it meant everything.

Ploy had quietly loved Mind for a long time.

But all she ever did was hit "like," read her posts, and admire her from a
distance-silently.

Flashback: High School

Mind: Updated status - Listening to "Lover's Concerto"

Ploy tapped into the post the moment she saw the notification.

She knew Mind was someone who posted a lot-selfies, stories from Twitter,
even random rants about school.

But one thing was always the same:

Mind's posts were full of likes and comments.

Not like Ploy...

She was just one of the quiet ones-liking posts silently from behind the
screen.

Every time Mind posted something, Ploy would hit "like."

Sometimes, she dared to leave a comment. But most of the time, it was just
something plain and simple.

Mind:
"So sleepy during math class today. Does anyone even get this stuff??"

Ploy:
"I kind of get it a little, haha."

Mind:
"Lucky youuuu. I wish I could understand it too 😩"

That was it.

Just that one ordinary reply from Mind was enough to make Ploy smile for
the rest of the day.

One day, it rained heavily. Mind had forgotten her umbrella standing in
front of the school building, laughing with her friends.

Ploy stood nearby, holding her own umbrella-but didn't have the courage to
step forward.

In the end, all she could do was watch as Mind ran out into the rain...
straight into her boyfriend's car.

That night, after Ploy got home, she picked up her phone and typed out a
message:

Ploy:
"It's raining so hard today. Don't catch a cold."

Mind:
"I knowww right, I'm soaked haha 😂"

Ploy sighed, smiling softly at the screen-resigned.

Before graduation, she finally gathered all the courage she had... and sent
Mind a direct message.

Ploy:
"Graduation already, huh. Who knows when we'll see each other again,
haha."

Mind:
"Right? I knowww... makes me a little sad to think about 🥺"

Ploy:
"Anyway, I wish you all the best, Mind. Hope you're really happy."

Mind:
"Thank youuuu! I wish you all the best too, Ployyyy 🥺💛"

And after that...

They never spoke again.

Back to the present.

A tightness welled up in Ploy's chest.

She let out a quiet sigh, her fingers scrolling back through their old
messages.

Memories came rushing in, so overwhelming it made her heart ache.

She had always had feelings for Mind...

But never once had the courage to actually do anything about it.

But it's been almost ten years now.

She was no longer that high school girl who was content just liking posts
from afar.

Maybe... just maybe, this time won't be like before.

Ploy hesitated for exactly three seconds before typing a message:

Ploy:
"Mind?"

Her eyes widened as she realized what she'd done-and quickly reached to
unsend the message.

But it was too late.

Mind:
"OMG Ploy! It's been agesssss 😭✨"

Ploy froze for a moment before slowly typing a reply, face flushed.

Ploy:
"Oops... I was just looking through some old chats haha. Didn't think
you'd actually reply."

Mind:
"What a crazy coincidence 😂 How have you been? It's been so long!"

Ploy hadn't even gotten her thoughts together when Mind followed up with
something unexpected:

.

Mind:
"Are you free this Saturday? Want to grab lunch?"

Ploy stared at the screen, jaw slightly dropped for a full two seconds. Then
she scrolled back up to reread the message again.

Mind just asked her to lunch?

This time... maybe she wouldn't be just the girl who liked her posts from
afar anymore.

FROM ONE MESSAGE TO AN UNEXPECTED CONVERSATION

Ploy stared at her phone screen for a long time. Her heart was pounding so
loudly, she could almost hear it.

Mind:
“Are you free this Saturday? Want to grab lunch?”

She hadn’t spoken to Mind in nearly ten years. And suddenly, Mind was
asking her out to eat—like it was the most normal thing in the world.

What should Ploy say?

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down before typing a reply.

Ploy:
“Sure. Where should we go?”

Mind replied almost instantly.

Mind:
“No idea yet haha. Let me thinkkk 😅😅😅”

Ploy smiled without meaning to... Mind still typed the same way as before
—stretching out vowels and filling messages with emojis. It felt like the
same old Mind she used to know.

She quietly typed back:

Ploy:
“Alright, just let me know later.”

Mind:
“Yayyy! See you soon!! 😆😆🎉”

Ploy set her phone down, slowly leaned back in her chair, and took a deep
breath.

Her heart was still racing.

...Just a few short messages, yet they brought back so many old feelings.

She had never really had a deep conversation with Mind before. Most of
their interactions were just comments or group chats. But getting a direct
message like this—

It felt different.

She opened the chat again and reread everything from the beginning.

Ploy and Mind were going to meet again...

For the first time in ten years.

That night, Ploy could barely sleep. Her mind was full of thoughts.

What should she do? What would they talk about? Had Mind changed
much?

Ploy wasn’t that shy nerdy girl who used to just hit the like button anymore.

Now she had a good job as a content creator, working with big brands. She
had her own sense of style. She knew how to socialize better.

But when it came to Mind...

She felt like she’d gone back in time—to that high school girl who used to
secretly watch Mind from afar.

When Saturday came, the first thing Ploy did after waking up was check
Instagram stories out of habit.

And it was no surprise—Mind was still posting every day.

"Starting the morning with a big Americano ☕."

Mind had posted a photo of her favorite coffee next to her laptop, with soft
music playing from Spotify in the background.

Ploy smiled to herself.

She scrolled down to see Mind’s latest post:

"Warm sunlight and good music make this Saturday feel a little nicer."

The comments below were full of teasing from her friends:

"You said you’re single, but you look way too happy!"

"Single but glowingggg~"

Ploy scrolled for a bit, then finally decided to tap the heart.

That afternoon, Mind messaged her with the location.

Mind:
“How about this caféyy? It’s super chilll” (link attached)

Ploy clicked it—it was a cozy, minimalist café with wood and glass decor.
Very calm and inviting.

Ploy:
“Looks great!”

Mind:
“Let’s meet at 5pm, okayyyy~”

Ploy took a deep breath and quickly got up to choose her outfit.

She wasn’t sure what to wear to look “just right”—not too much, not too
plain.

In the end, she went with a simple white shirt and jeans, carrying a canvas
tote in her usual style.

And at exactly 5 PM, Ploy stood in front of the café.

Looking through the window, she saw Mind sitting calmly at a window-side
table, smiling and waving at her.

Ploy gently placed her hand over her chest, feeling the quick, steady rhythm
of her heartbeat.

FIVE O’CLOCK AND AN UNSTEADY HEART

Ploy stood in front of the café, took a deep breath, and slowly walked
inside.

The soft chime of the doorbell rang, followed by the rich smell of coffee.
She adjusted her canvas bag without realizing it. Her hands felt icy cold,
even though it was blazing hot outside.

She glanced around the café until she spotted someone sitting by the
window.

It was Mind.

Mind was scrolling on her phone, but when she looked up and saw Ploy,
she immediately smiled and waved.

“Ployyy! Over here!”

Ploy gave a small smile and walked over to sit across from her, trying her
best to act naturally.

“Have you been waiting long?” she asked.

“Not at all! I just got here,”

Mind replied as she put her phone away and stretched a little.

“Like... It's such a coincidence. I suddenly thought of Ploy.”

Ploy gave a small laugh.

“Really? Haven’t seen my name pop up in ages.”

“Right? At first I was like, ‘Wait, is this the Ploy from our class?’ But then I
checked your profile and I was like, ‘Ohhh, the one who gave me the
numbers!’”

Ploy made a face. She had a feeling that the only thing Mind remembered
about her was those numbers.

“How have you been lately?”

Mind asked as she took a sip of her coffee.

“Same old. I work in the creative field.”

“Ooh, sounds cool!”

“Not really. I just write content based on what clients ask.”

“Well, that’s still better than me. I’m in PR—super hectic. I deal with
demanding clients every single day,”

Mind said with a half-laugh, though she looked genuinely tired.

Ploy chuckled a little.

“Well, you did choose a job where you have to talk to people all the time.”

“Yeah, true,” Mind laughed.

“But hey, Ploy, do you have a boyfriend?”

Ploy hesitated for a second at that question.

“…No.”

“Really!?”

“Just broke up not long ago,”

Ploy said calmly, trying not to show much emotion.

“Oh no,”

Mind looked surprised, then her expression softened.

“Sorry… I didn’t mean to bring up something painful.”

“It’s okay. I’m fine now,” Ploy smiled to reassure her.

“Hmm… I’m single too.”

Ploy nodded.

“I saw your comment on that post.”

Mind made a face.

“And you didn’t think to comfort me a little?”

“How should I comfort you?” Ploy teased.

“You could’ve said something like, ‘It’s okay, Mind. You’ll definitely find
someone good,’ you know?”

Ploy laughed.

“Okay—It’s okay, Mind. You’ll definitely find someone good.”

“There we go! That’s better,” Mind laughed along.

After ordering their food, Mind started scrolling on her phone again while
Ploy just sat quietly, watching her.

She never thought she’d actually be sitting across from Mind like this.

…Ten years ago, all she could do was secretly watch her from afar.

“Ploy.”

The sound of her name made Ploy jump slightly. She looked up.

“What’s up? You were staring at me,”

Mind asked with a laugh.

“Nothing. Just thinking about something,” Ploy quickly replied.

“Thinking about what?”

“Just… never thought I’d really be sitting here talking with you like this.”

“What? What do you mean?”

Ploy hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to tell the whole truth. In the
end, she decided to share just part of it.

“We barely talked back in school.”

“Oh yeah. That’s true—we hardly spoke at all.” Mind laughed.

“You were in the popular group.”

“And what group were you in?”

“The nerds in the corner of the room.”

“Awww,” Mind drew out the sound playfully.

“But hey, that doesn't mean I didn’t notice you,” Mind added.

"...."

“So… back then, what did you think of me, Ploy?”

"Someone who always looked cheerful."

Mind chuckled softly.

“Hmm, cheerful?”

“Yeah, like you were the one who made the whole class feel alive.”

Mind fell quiet for a moment before giving a small smile.

“But you know… I wasn’t always happy.”

Ploy raised an eyebrow.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean… I had my own stress, bad days too. I just didn’t want anyone to
see it.”

Ploy looked at her quietly, sensing that Mind was speaking honestly from
the heart.

“But now, I don’t have to pretend to be cheerful all the time. Because I’m
single! No one to care about anymore!” Mind added.

Ploy laughed.

“You make it sound like being in a relationship means you have to fake who
you are.”

“Well… sometimes,” Mind gave a small smile.

“But it’s okay. I got through it.”

They kept talking—about the past, the present, their jobs, their lives.

It was strange how naturally the conversation flowed, as if they’d been

close friends all along.

.

After they finished eating, Mind leaned back in her chair with a big smile.

“Hey, this was fun.”

“Hm?”

“Talking with you. It was really fun.”

Ploy smiled softly. “Thanks for inviting me.”

Mind smiled back. “Thanks for coming.”

Ploy felt her heart start to race again.

Maybe… this could be the beginning of something.

FRIENDS GROWING CLOSER

.
.

Ding!

A notification sound went off in the morning. Ploy picked up her phone to
check it, even though she usually didn’t wake up and check her phone right
away. But today, something made her want to.

Mind:
“Heyyy, are you awakeee?”

Ploy blinked, confused as she stared at the message from Mind.

Ploy:
“I just woke up. What’s up?”

Mind:
“Just wanted to say last night was really funnnn haha”

Ploy couldn’t help but smile, even though she was still half-asleep.

.

Ploy:
“It really was! 😅”

Mind:
“So, are you free next week? Let’s go eat together again!”

Ploy paused for a moment. She hadn’t expected Mind to be the one to ask
her out again.

Ploy:
“Do you really want to see me, or are you just looking for someone to
eat with?”

Mind:
“Come onnn, of course I want to see you too!”

That response made Ploy feel a little strange. She wasn’t sure if she was
overthinking things. But still, the fact that Mind was the one who asked
again — what did that mean?

Mind:
“If you’re free, I’ll find a new café for us!”

Ploy let out a small sigh and agreed without thinking too much.

She didn’t know when it started, but lately, Mind’s name had been popping
up more and more on her social media feed.

Ding!

Another notification — from Instagram this time.

'Mind tagged you in a story.'

Ploy tapped to view it. It was a picture of a cup of coffee with a caption that
read:

"Some people need coffee to start the day, and some people need a message
from a new friend." 😅
@ploy_writer

Ploy let out a soft laugh before replying in DM.

Ploy:
“Are you talking about me?”

Mind:
“Who knows? 😅”

She tried not to read too much into that reply, but it still made her feel a
little strange.

After their second meetup, they started talking more often — almost every
day, a message would pop up in each other’s chat.

Sometimes, Mind would send a photo of her meal with the caption:

“Dinner tonight. Jealous muchhhhh?”

Ploy would reply with her own food photo:

😅

“Single people can cook for themselves too! 😅”

Mind shared a playlist and said:

“This song is perfect for working! You have to try it!”

Ploy listened and replied:

“Hey, I really like it!”

.
.

They were just little conversations — nothing big or serious.

But after a while, all those little moments started to add up, and Ploy felt
like Mind had become a part of her life.

One night, Mind messaged her late.

Mind:
“Ployyyyy I’m so stressed outtttt.”

Ploy:
“What happened? What’s stressing you out?”

Mind:
“So much work… ughhh 😩”

Ploy:
“Take a deep breath. Tell me what’s going on.”

Then Mind started typing a long message, venting about work, tough
clients, everything. In the middle of it, she suddenly changed the topic:

Mind:
“I just want to quit and open a tiny café in the city.”

Ploy laughed at that message.

Ploy:
“Big dreams, huh?”

Mind:
“Just saying haha. But seriously… do you ever get stressed with
work?”

Ploy:
“Sometimes. But I try to find ways to deal with it.”

Mind:
“Like what?”

Ploy:
“Sometimes, just talking to someone can make things feel better.”

Mind read that message and went quiet for a moment before replying.

Mind:
“You’re right. Talking to you really makes me feel a lot better.”

Ploy couldn’t help but smile a little.

One day, Mind messaged her again.

Mind:
“Ploy, are you free? Want to go for a walk?”

Ploy paused for a second. She didn’t expect Mind to ask to hang out this
often.

Ploy:
“Don’t you have any other friends? haha”

Mind:
“Of course I do! But I want to see you.”

Ploy went silent for a moment…

How was she supposed to feel about a message like that?

She let out a quiet sigh before replying.

Ploy:
“Okay. Let’s meet at the usual place.”

WHEN THEY GOT CLOSER

.
.

Her heart beat faster.

It was Saturday. Ploy was standing in front of the mall, waiting for Mind
like they had planned.

This was the third time they had hung out together this month.

If you asked, “Is this a date?” — Ploy wouldn’t dare think that far.

But if you asked, “Is this more than just friendship?” — she didn’t have an
answer.

“Ploy!” Mind called out as she walked up.

Ploy looked up. Mind was wearing a cream-colored long-sleeve top and a
brown pleated skirt. She looked casual, but still charming as always.

“Did you wait long?”

“Not really,” Ploy replied.

Mind smiled, then gently took Ploy’s wrist.

“Let’s go!”

Ploy’s heart skipped a beat.

Why did she have to hold my hand...?

They went to see a movie. At first, they had agreed on a light comedy, but
in the end, Mind changed her mind to a romantic film.

“We’re both single anyway, so let’s just watch something that breaks our
hearts!”

Ploy just gave a weak laugh. At that point, she didn’t think much of it.

But once the movie started, the theater was dark and quiet — and they were
sitting much closer than she expected.

About halfway through, Ploy felt Mind shift a little. Suddenly, Mind’s head
rested gently on her shoulder.

Ploy froze.

Mind didn’t say anything. She just stayed like that, as if it was the most
natural thing.

Ploy tried to stay calm, but it wasn’t easy. Her mind kept wondering:

Is this more than just being friends?

But in the end, she didn’t say anything — just let Mind rest there until the
movie ended.

That night, after getting home, Ploy was scrolling through her phone. She
opened her chat app.

Mind:
“The movie was fun todayyyy!”

Ploy:
“Yeah, it was fun.”

Mind:
“But I liked it more because I had a friend to watch it with!”

Ploy read the message and sighed softly.

Friend.

Why didn’t she want to be just a friend anymore?

She closed the chat, put her phone down, and buried her face into the
pillow.

Why doesn’t Mind feel anything...? Or am I just overthinking it?

.
.

The next day, Ploy decided to write a post on social media:

'Sometimes we’re just afraid to confess how we really feel...Because we’re

scared to lose what we already have.'

She didn’t tag anyone. No emojis. Just words.

But... Mind liked the post — and even commented:

“Who is Ploy talking about?..”

Ploy stared at the comment for a long time, not knowing how to reply.

She wanted Mind to know.

But she was also scared that if Mind did find out, everything might change.

.

One evening Ploy and Mind were sitting together in a cozy café.

“Ploy,” Mind said softly.

“Have you ever liked someone but were too afraid to tell them?”

Ploy flinched slightly. “Why are you asking that?”

“No reason,” Mind smiled.

“Just wondering... like, maybe someone likes me but is scared to say it.”

Ploy gripped her coffee cup a little tighter... her heart beating fast.

“So… what do you think, Mind?”

“I think if you feel something, you should say it.”

Ploy swallowed hard. “Have you ever felt that way before?”

Mind looked at her for a moment, then gave a small laugh.

“Maybe I have.”

Maybe she has?

Ploy wanted to ask more clearly. She wanted to know what Mind was really
thinking.

But in the end, she didn’t have the courage.

She just gave a small smile and changed the subject. They talked about
something else instead.

ARE YOU BRAVE ENOUGH TO CONFESS?

.
.

After that day, Ploy and Mind’s relationship continued to flourish.

They talked every day, met up more often, and constantly tagged each other
in their stories. Mind was still the same—cheerful, lively, and seemingly
never crossing any lines.

But for Ploy... everything was getting heavier and heavier.

Her heart was no longer her own. She started thinking about Mind all the
time, wanting to be closer.

And most importantly...

She no longer wanted to be just friends.

Ploy sat staring at her phone screen. The question that had been looping in
her mind for days was:

Should I just tell her?

One morning, Ploy woke up with a clearer thought.

I’m going to tell Mind how I feel.

She picked up her phone and started typing a message.

.

Ploy:
"Mind, are you free today?"

Mind read it almost immediately and replied quickly, as usual.

Mind:
"Freeeee! Are you taking me out for food?😅"

Ploy let out a soft laugh and typed back.

Ploy:
"Just want to talk about something."

Mind:
"Hmmm sounds serioussssss!"

Ploy:
"It is serious."

Mind went quiet for a moment before replying.

Mind:
"Okay okayyy, see you at the usual spot!"

Ploy stared at the chat for a while, then let out a long sigh.

This time, i have to say it....

Ploy sat waiting at their usual café, feeling like time was moving slower
than usual.

She had rehearsed the words in her head countless times, but when it came
to actually saying them, it turned out to be harder than she thought. The bell
above the door jingled. She looked up and saw Mind walking in with a big
smile.

"I’m hereee!"

Ploy smiled faintly, feeling her heartbeat speed up.

Mind dropped into the seat across from her.

"So, what did you want to talk about?"

Ploy took a deep breath, thinking she was ready. But as she lifted her head
and met Mind’s eyes—eyes filled with curiosity and expectation—

Every ounce of courage she had… disappeared.

She pressed her lips together tightly and ended up saying something
completely different from what she had planned.

"Um… I’m about to start a new job. Just wanted to let you know."

She hated herself for telling such a pointless lie—but fear still gripped her.

Fear that if she said how she truly felt, everything between them would
change forever.

That night, Ploy couldn’t sleep. She picked up her phone and opened the
draft message in her notes.

"Mind, I like you."

She had typed it out so many times… but never found the courage to hit
send.

She sighed and locked the screen, tossing and turning in bed.

Why is this so hard?

The next day, while she was working, her phone chimed.

Ping!

She opened it and saw—

Mind had just posted a photo with a guy, captioned:

Never thought someone would walk into my life at this moment. But maybe
the right person shows up when the time is right.

Ploy felt as if something had slammed hard into her chest.

She sat there in silence for a moment, her heartbeat slowing in an

unfamiliar, heavy way.

I was too late… wasn’t I?

She stared at the caption for a long time, then slowly pressed the button to
turn off her phone screen.

Everything she had ever kept in her heart—felt like it had been shattered in
a single, fleeting second.

WHEN PAIN COMES IN THE FORM OF A POST SINGLE

Ploy sat still on her bed, gripping her phone tightly as she looked at Mind's
post.

"Never thought someone would walk into my life at this moment. But maybe
the right person shows up when the time is right."

Those words felt like a blade slicing straight through her chest.

She stared at the photo of Mind and that guy for a long time.

The guy Mind had once said,

There’s nothing going on.

The guy she never asked about, because she believed there really wasn’t
anything between them.

But it turned out, she had been wrong about everything.

She felt stupid. She felt like she’d just been fooling herself all along.

We… it’s really over now, isn’t it?

She typed something into the comment box on Mind’s post — and then
erased it.

What should she even say?

"Wishing you happiness."

"Congratulations."

Or maybe, "Should I step back now?"

But in the end, she didn’t send anything at all.

She just turned off her screen and fell back onto her pillow.

She thought of the night before — when she was just about to tell Mind
how she really felt, but ended up choosing silence instead.

"If I had been braver back then, would everything have turned out
differently?"

But now… it was probably too late.

After that post, Ploy began to distance herself from Mind — without even
realizing it.

She didn’t reply to messages as quickly as she used to.

She stopped liking every one of Mind’s posts.

Stopped watching her stories like before.

She tried to step back. Tried to make herself feel nothing.

But the truth was… it hurt more than ever.

Ding!

A notification sound chimed — a message from Mind.

Mind:
"Ploy, why have you been so distant lately?"

Ploy stared at the message for a while before typing a reply.

Ploy:
"Been busy with work."
(A lie… she just didn’t want to talk, that was all.)

Mind responded almost immediately.

Mind:
"How busy can you be? I barely see you comment on anything
anymore. You don’t even hit like."

Ploy sighed softly. Mind notices… this much?

Ploy:
"Just needed a break from social media."

She tried to make it sound as casual as possible.

Mind went quiet for a moment before replying.

Mind:
"Okay, if you want a break, I understand. But… if something’s going
on, can you let me know?"

Ploy read the message and could feel Mind’s concern — which somehow
only made her feel worse.

She didn’t reply.

.
.

One day, as Ploy was scrolling through her feed, she came across another
post from Mind.

It was a photo of a sunset sky, with a caption that read:

'Sometimes, the person we want to understand how we feel… might be the

one who never truly does.'

Ploy froze.

She read that caption over and over until a hidden meaning began to
surface.

Was it just a random thought?

Or… was it about her?

She wanted to ask — but she hesitated again.

A few days later, Ploy arranged to meet some coworkers to change her
surroundings.

She tried to keep herself busy, just so she wouldn’t think about Mind too
much.

But while she was sitting in a restaurant, eating with her friends...

Ding!

Mind:
"Ploy, where are you?"

She hesitated for a moment before replying.

Ploy:
"Having dinner with some friends. Why?"

Mind read the message immediately — but didn’t respond.

Ploy frowned.

She knew Mind was trying to say something, but it felt strange how
suddenly the conversation just… stopped.

Then, ten minutes later, Mind posted an Instagram story with the caption:

'Maybe… we’re just not that important after all.'

Ploy felt something tighten in her chest.

Was Mind talking about her?

But why would Mind feel that way?

After that day, everything changed.

Mind no longer messaged her first like before.

No more tags, no more playful teasing.

Sometimes, even when Ploy replied, Mind would just read the message and
not respond.

Ploy could feel the growing distance — and it hurt even more than it did in
the beginning.

There was a time when she thought pulling away would make her feel
better.

But now… she felt worse than ever.

She missed everything — Mind’s smile, the sweet messages Mind used to
send, the way she always checked in.

She missed Mind more than she ever thought she would.

She wanted things to go back to how they used to be.

She wanted Mind to come back to her like before.

But what should she do?

MIND STARTS TO UNDERSTAND
HER OWN FEELINGS

.
.

Lately, Ploy and Mind have barely talked—nothing like before.

No good morning texts.

No tags on stories.

No silly jokes sent every day.

Just silence.

A silence that feels scary.

Ploy still watches Mind from a distance, just like she always has.
But this time, it feels different—because now, she knows she could have
gotten closer.

Yet she’s the one who chose to walk away.

It all happened because she decided not to speak up about her feelings. And
now, she’s not sure if that was the right decision.

Mind also noticed the change. She doesn’t know exactly when it started, but
she knows something shifted.

Ploy slowly disappeared from her life—like clouds being blown away by
the wind.

At first, Mind thought it was just temporary, that Ploy would come back
like before.

But weeks passed, and everything was still just as quiet.

And it made Mind feel lonely.

She never thought Ploy not being in her life would affect her this much.

She tried hanging out with other friends, going back to her normal routine
—doing everything the way she used to before she got close to Ploy.

But no matter what she did, it didn’t feel the same anymore.

One night, Mind sat on her balcony, looking up at the sky and letting out a
soft sigh.

She thought about everything that had happened between her and Ploy over
the past few months.

She missed the morning texts they used to send each other.

She missed Ploy’s smile when she listened to her complain about work.
She missed how Ploy always listened so carefully.

She realized…

She missed Ploy.

Mind picked up her phone and opened the chat with Ploy.

The last message was one she had sent:

“Where are you, Ploy?”

Ploy:
“Having dinner with friends.”

Mind remembered that she didn’t respond after that.

She wasn’t sure why she felt so bad at the time, but now she was starting to
understand.

She was feeling hurt…

It felt like Ploy didn’t care about her anymore.

And that really hurt.

Why do I have to feel like this? She kept asking herself over and over.

Mind tried to think back to all the times she spent with Ploy.

Why did she feel more at ease with Ploy than with anyone else?

Why was Ploy always the first person she wanted to talk to whenever
something happened in her life?

Why did it bother her so much when Ploy was with someone else?

She felt like Ploy shouldn’t belong to anyone else.

When her thoughts reached this point, Mind froze.

What was she really thinking?

What was she really feeling about Ploy?

She thought Ploy was just a friend… right?

But if they were just friends, then why did it hurt so much when Ploy
drifted away?

She was confused.

But the one thing she was sure of was this:

She didn’t want Ploy to disappear from her life.

That night, Mind sat quietly for a long time before picking up her phone
and typing a message to Ploy.

Mind:
“Ploy, I think we really need to talk.”

She stared at the message for a while before finally pressing send.

This time, she wasn’t going to just sit back and let everything end without
understanding why. She was going to make things clear.

A NEW LOVE THAT’S NOT THE SAME

.
.

Mind:
"Ploy, I think we really need to talk."

Mind stared at the screen for a while before finally pressing send.

Her heart was beating a little faster than usual. She was unconsciously
gripping her phone tightly. She had never felt like this before—never felt
that…

“Talking to someone” could be this important.

She looked at the screen, waiting for Ploy to reply.

In less than a minute, the message status changed to Read.

Ploy:
"Okay. Where should we meet?"

Mind smiled faintly. Even though she didn’t yet know how this would end,
she knew she wouldn’t let Ploy disappear from her life again.

Flashback – High School

Mind sat, absentmindedly staring at the coffee in her cup as old memories
began to surface.

When was the first time she met Ploy?

She remembered it was in 10th grade, her first year after transferring to a
new school. Ploy was one of the few people who didn’t come over to greet
her like everyone else did.

Mind didn’t think much of it at the time—she just felt that Ploy was the
“quiet type.”

But she began to notice something: every time she said something in class,
Ploy would always glance in her direction.

That day, it rained heavily. She had forgotten her umbrella and was
hesitating whether to run through the rain.

But before she could decide, she caught something out of the corner of her
eye.

Ploy was standing at the corner of the building, only a few meters away
from her.

She had an umbrella in her hand—but she didn’t walk over to her.

Mind looked for just a brief moment before turning back. At the time, she
didn’t think anything of it. She just noticed that Ploy was there.

And then she chose to run through the rain to get into her boyfriend’s car.

One day, she forgot her class notebook in the classroom.

She remembered that it was Ploy who messaged her, saying:

Ploy:
“Mind, you left your class notebook in the room. Want it? I can bring it to
you.”

She smiled as soon as she read it, because back then, she never thought
anyone would notice she had forgotten it.

Mind:
“Oh, really? Thanks sooo much. Can you bring it to me pleaseee? Love
youuu.”

Back then, she didn’t think much of it.

But now…

Now that she looked back at old conversations, she just realized that she
could remember this one in such detail—even though it should have been
just a tiny message from the past.

She remembered that every day, she was surrounded by lots of people.

She had many friends—people who teased her, chatted with her.

But looking back now, she remembered there was one person who was
always quiet.

Someone who watched from afar.

Someone who liked every one of her posts but never commented anything
sweet like the others.

Someone she once thought, “It’s nice, having them there,” but she never
valued enough.

That person was Ploy.

Mind sat in silence for a while, letting old memories settle and become
clear.

Why Ploy?

Why is it only Ploy she keeps thinking about now?

Why doesn’t she want Ploy to disappear from her life?

She had had boyfriends. She had talked to many people. But with Ploy… it
was unlike anyone else.

She felt like Ploy had always been there.

And now, she was starting to understand that she wanted Ploy to stay there
—forever.

On the day they were supposed to meet, Mind arrived early.

She felt more nervous than usual—her hands slightly cold, her heart beating
fast—until Ploy walked in.

"Mind, is something wrong?"

Ploy asked, her face showing a hint of suspicion.

Mind took a deep breath before speaking directly.

"Ploy, I think we need to talk about something that's been left unresolved
for a long time."

Ploy went quiet for a moment, then nodded.

"Okay, go ahead."

Mind looked into Ploy's eyes and spoke slowly.

"I miss you."

Ploy froze—clearly not expecting to hear something like that.

"What do you mean?" Ploy asked in a soft voice.

Mind gave a faint smile.

"I mean… I feel like you’re important to me."

Ploy turned her face away, as if trying to keep her emotions in check.

"What about your new boyfriend?"

Mind frowned slightly, then let out a laugh.

"New boyfriend? You mean that post?"

Ploy nodded.

Mind sighed.

"That guy isn't my boyfriend."

Ploy looked up immediately.

"What did you say?"

"I just tried to open my heart to someone new, but in the end, I realized I
didn’t like him that way."

Mind spoke honestly.

"Because I don’t feel the same for him as I do for you."

Ploy went silent.

Mind looked into her eyes again and said with confidence:

"I like you, Ploy."

"....."

There was a long pause.

Ploy blinked, staring at Mind like she was checking if she was dreaming.

Mind smiled at her.

"And what about you, Ploy?"

Ploy took a deep breath before smiling back.

"I’ve liked you for a long time now."

Mind let out a soft laugh and reached out to hold Ploy’s hand.

"Then… shall we start over?"

Ploy nodded.

"Let’s start… the way it should’ve been from the beginning."

OUT IN THE OPEN

.
.

After that day, everything changed.

But not in a bad way.

It changed into what it should have been from the start.

Ploy and Mind no longer hid their relationship. There were no more secrets,
no more unanswered questions.

They were a couple.

There was no need to hide in public anymore, no need to worry about what
others might think.

“Ploy,”

Mind whispered, leaning in close as they sat together in a café.

“What is it?”

“Are you a unicorn?”

Ploy raised an eyebrow. “What are you talking about?”

Mind grinned mischievously and whispered,

“Because you're something magical to me.”

Ploy lifted her coffee cup and tried to act unfazed, but her ears were turning
red.

“Mind.”

“What?”

“You know…”

Ploy put her cup down and smiled softly.

“You should be a fisherman.”

Mind blinked. “Huh? Why?”

“Because you keep throwing bait at me.”

Mind burst out laughing and suddenly grabbed Ploy’s hand.

“So, have you taken the bait yet?”

Ploy looked at her steadily and whispered back,

"I've been hooked since the first day I met you."

This time, it was Mind’s turn to blush.

Not long after they officially became a couple, Mind posted a photo on
Instagram — a shot of her hand intertwined with Ploy’s on a table with two
drinks, under the soft glow of café lights.

The caption was short but crystal clear:

“Finally found my person.” @ploy_writer

❤️
Within minutes, her notifications exploded.

“Whoa! You two are official now?!”

“You guys are so meant to be.”

“Cutest couple ever!”

Ploy read the comments with a quiet sigh, then opened her phone and typed
her own post:

“Crushed on her for years, and now we’re actually together... Guess
things like this do happen for real.”

She added a picture of Mind looking out the window with a soft smile.

Not long after, Mind retweeted it with a reply:

“If only I had known sooner…

you wouldn’t have had to wait so long.” 🥰

The difference between being “friends” and being “a couple” was that they
no longer hesitated to touch each other.

Mind no longer thought twice before grabbing Ploy’s hand when they
walked together.

Ploy no longer pulled away when Mind leaned on her shoulder.

When they watched movies at home, Ploy was getting used to Mind resting
her head on her lap, softly complaining about the plot.

.
.

Then one day, Mind spoke up in a gentle voice.

“You know what?”

“Hmm?”

“When I was with my ex… I never felt this comfortable.”

Ploy looked at her quietly, then reached out to gently stroke her soft hair.

“I’m glad it’s different now.”

Mind closed her eyes and gave a small smile.

“Ploy.”

“Yes?”

Mind lifted her head from Ploy’s lap and looked into her eyes, their faces
close. Then she whispered softly:

“Can I kiss you?”

Ploy was stunned for a second before her face inevitably turned red.

“A-Are you crazy?”

Mind laughed. “It’s okay. Maybe next time.”

Ploy wished she could disappear right then and there.

Mind’s birthday came sooner than Ploy had expected.

She had already prepared a gift—a small silver bracelet with the initials
“M” and “P” hanging together.

But it seemed like Mind wanted more than just a gift.

“Ploy,”

Mind whispered as they sat on the balcony of their room, looking out at the
city lights at night.

“Hm?”

Mind turned to look into her eyes and said softly:

“Today’s my birthday.”

“I know.”

“Then… can I ask for one more present?”

Ploy raised her eyebrows.

“What is it?”

Mind smiled gently, then whispered:

“Can I kiss you?”

Ploy went still. Her heart was racing so fast, she could barely hear anything
else.

She had always thought… a kiss was a big deal.

But when she saw the look in Mind’s eyes, she realized—it wasn’t
something she wanted to say no to anymore.

Slowly, Ploy reached out and touched Mind’s cheek.

Mind slowly closed her eyes, and their noses gently touched.

Then, their lips met for the first time.

It was soft.

It was warm.

It made the whole world stop.

And in that moment, Ploy knew...

"I don’t want to kiss anyone else anymore."

Mind slowly pulled away, her eyes filled with emotion as she looked at
Ploy.

“Happy birthday,” Ploy whispered.

Mind smiled and softly whispered back:

“Happy birthday to both of us... for our first year as a couple.”

And that's where "us" begins.

WHEN ONE KISS ISN’T ENOUGH FOR HER

.
.

After Mind’s birthday, everything became sweeter than before.

They still lived their lives the same way—talking every day, teasing each
other whenever they had the chance—but one thing had changed.

Mind wanted more kisses.

“Ploy.”

“Yeah?”

“Can I have a kiss?”

Ploy rolled her eyes slightly.

“Didn’t we just kiss a minute ago?”

Mind grinned. “But it’s not enough.”

“Do you think I’m some kind of kiss machine?”

“Exactly,” Mind replied without hesitation.

“Is there a limit or something?”

Ploy let out a quiet sigh. “Mind…”

“Just a little one. Doesn’t have to be much,” Mind said with a pleading
look.

“A kiss on the cheek is fine too.”

Ploy looked at Mind leaning in close and couldn’t help but smile.

“Okay,”

She sighed, giving in. Then she leaned forward and gently kissed Mind on
the cheek.

Mind beamed. “Good girl!”

Ploy looked at her and started to wonder—had she been giving Mind too
little?

Had she ever considered herself a romantic person?

Not really.

She wasn’t the type who expressed love through physical touch. She didn’t
like too much skinship, hugging, or kissing.

At least, not often.

But now, she was starting to wonder…

Should she be doing it more?

Mind was a romantic. She needed touch and clear signs of love.

What about Ploy?

Ploy, who used to barely even hug Mind, was starting to realize something

She needed to show Mind that she loved her, not just with words, but
through touch as well.

One day, while they were walking in the park, Ploy secretly glanced at
Mind, who was walking beside her.

Mind was talking about a dessert shop she wanted to try, but Ploy wasn’t
really listening.

She was focused on something else.

When should I hold her hand?

Ploy had never been the one to make the first move, but today, she wanted
to try.

As Mind stared off at a fountain, Ploy slowly reached out and gently
touched the back of her hand, then carefully slid her fingers between
Mind’s.

Mind paused for a moment and looked over.

“Are you holding my hand?”

Ploy gave a small nod, avoiding eye contact.

Mind smiled brightly, then squeezed her hand.

“Good job.”

Ploy let out a quiet breath of relief.

After that, Ploy became more comfortable with physical touch.

When Mind was working, Ploy would walk by and gently stroke her hair.
When Mind leaned on her shoulder feeling sleepy, Ploy would softly wrap
her arm around her.

And when Mind looked sad or stressed, Ploy would lightly touch the back
of her hand to comfort her.

Mind noticed everything… and she loved it.

Ploy.

“Yes?”

“Do you realize you’ve changed?”

Ploy raised her eyebrows.

“Changed how?”

Mind smiled warmly.

"You’ve been touching me more lately."

Ploy blushed slightly.

"Well... I thought you might like it."

Mind let out a soft laugh, then reached out to gently caress Ploy’s cheek.

"I do. I really like it."

One night, after Mind came to sleep over at Ploy’s place, they sat and
watched a movie together, just like always.

But tonight felt different.

Ploy looked at Mind sitting beside her, dressed in cozy pajamas.

The atmosphere was quiet and warm.

Mind turned to Ploy and softly said,

“Ploy.”

“Hm?”

“Can I kiss you?”

Ploy swallowed nervously, but this time, she didn’t look away.

“Yeah.”

Mind smiled and slowly leaned in. Ploy moved closer too.

Their lips met in a soft, gentle kiss.

It wasn’t like the kisses they had shared before—this one was deeper,
softer… filled with emotion.

Mind’s hand gently brushed Ploy’s cheek, while Ploy slid her arm around
Mind’s waist, pulling her in closer.

She didn’t know how long the kiss lasted— but she knew one thing:
she didn’t want it to end.

When they finally pulled away,

Mind looked into Ploy’s eyes, full of affection.

“You love me, don’t you?”

Ploy gave a small smile and whispered,

“Very much.”

Mind grinned and hugged her tightly.

“I love you too.”

It was a cool, pleasant night. The city was still glowing with lights from tall
buildings. But inside their room, only a soft, dim light cast shadows on the
walls.

Ploy sat at the edge of the bed, looking at Mind who was standing in front
of her. Her eyes gently watched the other girl, filled with feelings she no
longer wanted to hide.

Mind didn't say a word. She simply stepped closer and slowly sat down
beside her.

A slight smile appeared on her face. Ploy looked at her lips-lips she had
once kissed. And tonight...

Tonight, she wanted to kiss them again.

Ploy slowly reached out and lightly touched the back of Mind's hand, gently
intertwining their fingers.

Mind didn't pull away. Instead, she held Ploy's hand tighter and looked up
into her eyes.

Her eyes were full of warmth, depth, and unspoken meaning.

"Ploy," Mind whispered softly.

"Yes?" Ploy replied.

Mind didn't answer with words. She simply moved closer, her warm breath
brushing gently against Ploy's cheek.

Ploy slowly raised her hand and gently touched Mind's face, her thumb
brushing along her cheekbone.

"You're so beautiful," Ploy said softly.

Mind let out a small laugh before whispering back,

"You just realized that?"

"I've always known," Ploy replied.

Those words made Mind smile, but the smile faded quickly as Ploy slowly
leaned in closer.

Their lips met for the second time. It wasn't rushed. It wasn't a kiss that
tried to prove anything. It was a kiss full of emotion.

Love. Longing. A deep yearning. All of it was expressed through that single
kiss.

Mind's arms naturally wrapped around Ploy's neck, while Ploy slid her
hands around Mind's waist, pulling her closer.

They held each other tightly, their breaths syncing into the same rhythm.

"Ploy,"

Mind whispered softly as Ploy pulled back to look into her eyes.

Ploy's eyes reflected the soft, colorful light from the bedside lamp. They
were gentle and filled with emotion.

She didn't reply with words. Instead, she slowly pressed the tip of her nose
against Mind's cheek, then moved lower-

Stopping for a moment before gently placing a kiss.

Mind closed her eyes, letting Ploy's touch guide her slowly, tenderly.

Ploy's hand glided down Mind's arm, brushing softly along her smooth skin
with the lightest touch.

Mind moved even closer, resting her face on Ploy's shoulder, breathing in
the faint, familiar scent.

"Ploy..."

"Yes?"

"Can you hold me tighter?"

Ploy didn't answer with words-but with action.

She wrapped her arms around Mind's waist, holding her firmly, as if to say:
I won't let you go. Tonight, it's just you and me in this world.

Time passed slowly. They let the night unfold naturally, letting love guide
every touch.

Every movement Ploy made was filled with tenderness and respect. She
explored and understood Mind through her fingertips, with full attention
and care.

Mind responded to every touch with love. She never knew being with
someone like this could feel so right.

Ploy didn't say I love you again and again-she showed it in everything she
did.

In every kiss on Mind's forehead.

In every gentle stroke through her hair.

In every whisper of her name beside her ear.

When their closeness reached its deepest point, Ploy paused and looked at
Mind again.

Mind met her gaze, her eyes full of overflowing emotion.

Ploy gave her a soft smile, then whispered quietly-

"I love you very much."

Mind smiled back, then reached for Ploy's hand and held it tighter.

"I love you too."

They let the night belong to just the two of them, letting everything unfold
naturally.

And in the end-

It became a night they would remember for the rest of their lives.
