History:

The Bashundhara Group has started operation as a real estate venture known as "Bashundhara" under the aegis of the Group's first concern - the East West Property Development (Pvt) Ltd in 1987. This project turned out to be a very successful one and had helped foster the growth of trust and confidence of the urban people in "Bashundhara".Driven by the ramifications of this success, Bashundhara geared up to invest in new fields, including manufacturing and trading. Meghna Cement Mills Ltd is the first manufacturing unit of Bashundhara Group and it is one of the largest cement industries in the country producing nearly 1 million metric tons a year. The Meghna Cement Mills Ltd is an International Standard Organization (ISO 9001: 2008) certified company having accreditation of manufacturing products for both domestic and international markets. The company is listed with both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges, the two bourses of the country since 1995 and 1996 respectively.

Bashundhara LP Gas Ltd is the first private LPG plant in the country. It has a higher production rate than any other filling station in Bangladesh. It possesses 3000MT storage

capacity, which is the largest amount among all the LPG plant in Bangladesh. LPG is an intermediate product that is situated between natural gas and crude oil. LPG is one of the common fuels in our country where natural gas is not available.

It operates a clinker grinding plant having a production capacity of 0.5 million metric tons a year. The volume of cement production by the Bashundhara Group enterprises reached the highest level with commissioning of this plant. The Bashundhara Industrial Complex Ltd cement goes to consumers by the same distribution channel of the Meghna Cement Mills Ltd.

The current boom of the Shipbuilding Industry is the global rise due to high demand for building new ships, helped Bangladesh to attract the attention of international shipping companies by which, a new scope is knocking for economic development of the country.
