ARTISTIC TEAM BIOGRAPHIES
JASON AUGUSTOWKSI
Director
I HAD A DREAM back when I was eight years old di-
recting my cousins in plays based on video games
(Kirby 1996, etc.) in my Grandmother's basement and
then making movies with my friends in middle and
high school and college, that I would one day get to
do it on a grander scale. And HONEY HONEY, that's what RiverHawk Produc-
tions and Infinite Arts has given me. Anyone who goes into teaching knows it's
not about the MONEY MONEY MONEY but the children. It always has to be about
the kids. So this "jukebox bio" is for them. I wanted to say THANK YOU FOR THE
MUSIC you have brought into my life (both literally and metaphorically) - having
no biological children of my own, I truly feel like I have had a small hand in raising
so many incredible teens and adults. MAMMA MIA! its like being a dad (of
sorts). And here we go again...with what marks my 48th Broadway-length show
over the past 13 years. But it's not always fun and games. The theatre world, if
you can imagine, has its fair share of... well... drama, so I am thankful for this in-
credibly supportive community who can see the occassional day when my energy
wanes and who asks, CHIQUITITA tell me what's wrong? But for this show, I'd say
"nothing" because this is my favorite choreography I have ever written with some
of the hardest working students to date. I hope you all in the audience enjoy, be-
cause the students have polished it to as sharp as amateur performers can
get. We have ALL been DANCING QUEENS these past three weeks. But, like I al-
ways preach to the kids: it's not about the lines, the dancing, the singing, the cos-
tumes, the lights, the set, the props, the show...it's about learning real life skills,
making real friends, lifelong memories, and spreading passion and high expecta-
tions. And every year, every show they LAY ALL THEIR LOVE ON ME (and each
other) and make what could just be a "dancing" or "acting" or "vocal" intensive, a
family. Even when we have to sing in 4-8 part harmonies, while dancing, and nu-
ancing our acting, they are SUPERTROUPERS and GIMME GIMME GIMME a rea-
son to keep doing this year after year after year (I physically direct 10 months of
the year in my "free time" while running a high school English department as my
"real job"). But THE NAME OF THE GAME is doing what you love. And I love the
ARTISTIC TEAM BIOGRAPHIES continued
kids and parents of this community. So, VOULEZ VOUS, if they learn anything
from me, I hope it's not "how to act, sing, or dance" but how to stay organized,
keep promises, behave with professionalism and passion, plan ahead and always
work hard.
People may feel UNDER ATTACK with me saying this, but I don't believe in taking
many "days off." You have one life and if you aren't constantly locked in, ONE OF
US is going to live it for you. Because when someone is always on the top of their
game, it gives them the leeway to call in the S.O.S. when they really need it be-
cause people will feel compelled to believe it, take notice, and assist. Ever
read The 48 Laws of Power? Ever read The Boy Who Cried Wolf? And that brings
us into a whole psychological discussion of how people are wired and DOES YOUR
MOTHER KNOW this or that and is anyone ever really KNOWING ME, KNOWING
YOU? But I digress...I was reaching there for a second. See what happens with
these jukebox musicals sometimes? I was telling that to the kids when we start-
ed. Fun show, with great music and great harmonies and great dancing...the lines
stringing it all together...umm. But that brings me back to the kids and it's OUR
LAST SUMMER with so many who started with us during COVID when we were
performing Shakespeare. That is where they "cut their teeth," learning page long
monologues in middle school and performing them with industry-quality gusto. It
really feels like yesterday - a time when names of some of our now most loyal and
participative kids were just random lines on a signup spreadsheet. How we all
have evolved! How time has been SLIPPING THROUGH OUR FINGERS all
along. This show is for them and they are in full command. You're here. You'll
see it. Truly, THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL and they are all, each and every one of
them winners in our hearts. The eight year old director of Kirby 1996 in his now
late Grandmother's basement, the director of middle and high school and college
movies now wants to thank you all for TAKING A CHANCE ON ME and year after
year, season after season, whether I announced well-known bangers or lesser-
known passion projects, when I asked, "who wants to sign up," you responded
with I DO I DO I DO. Thank you. And now to conclude, listen to the lyrics of the
final song as you sing along after bows: WATERLOO isn't just "tacked on." We are
living it. All this love. Look at this auditorium. "Waterloo, I was defeated, you
won the war... Waterloo, I promise to love you forevermore." And remember,
what I said earlier, if you learn anything from me, learn to always keep your prom-
ises.

I hold a B.S. in Elementary Education from
Mount. St. Mary's University
and am currently the Digital Experience Spe-
cialist at Sanders Corner Elementary School.
This marks the 12th year I’ve been directing award-winning
shows with Jason.
Infinite Arts was founded to give the students of Loudoun County,
opportunities to perform that are unparalleled in our ar-
ea. We pride ourselves on giving students a space to tackle shows
that challenge them both on stage and off. We believe in giving stu-
dents of any age, level and experience, theatre instruction that
makes them confident performers in an environment that fosters
friendships that last. Although Infinite Arts started as a summer
stage program, it has grown and expanded to produce virtually year-
round shows that offer something for every student. We under-
stand that all our students have varied interests, and we provide
leadership opportunities behind the scenes of each show as
well. We encourage you to get involved! Follow us on social me-
dia (Instagram: infinite_arts_productions), visit our web-
site ([Link]), email
us ([Link]@[Link]) and ask us questions
after the show! We will be thrilled to meet you and show you how
you can become part of Infinite Arts!
We hope you’ll enjoy the beloved, addicting Mamma
Mia!! The students, rising 5th grade through rising college fresh-
man have raised the bar yet again and have so much to celebrate
with their amazing production!
