ARTISTIC TEAM BIOGRAPHIES
JASON AUGUSTOWKSI
Director
Jason has had the same bio for too many shows
now and it was time to make a change. A good
change? A bad change? Who could know such
things yet. This will be a Sam Freminian stream
of conscience (just lower quality writing).

Let's begin with assorted info for those of you who don't know Jason
(aka Mr. A. aka the symbol formerly known as "A"): he was born in West
Virginia and across his childhood also lived in Indiana, Delaware and
Pennsylvania. In Indiana he once got his nose stuck in a door and
cried. He was two. In Delaware he liked to play pretend Power Rangers
games with his friends, or Playmobils, or decorate his backyard club-
house for Halloween. He also played a lot of SNES, did Kempo Karate
but now wished he had cared more about being good at baseball. He
probably could have been. He was kind of weird in middle school (who
isn't? Oh...wait did I just roast almost my entire Cast/Crew...) He was
the drum major of his high school's marching band, active in theatre,
had an alternative rock band named after his friend's black lab
"Shadow", played paintball, and got B's and C's in math and sci-
ence. But he was (and still is) hella good at English and Social Stud-
ies. Somehow, he got into Virginia Tech (ya'll know how difficult that is
nowadays) and majored in business...for about two seconds... before he
got a C- in Calc and Econ and Accounting and remembered how much
he loved working with kids when he used to run (not volunteer) RUN
Vacation Bible School as a middle and high school student at his home
Lutheran Church. (He's never been one to follow - for better or
worse). So he switched his major to English Literature, made virtually
straight A's and then was one of twelve people selected to remain at
VaTech for his Masters in Curriculum (where he graduated top seat
which surprised nobody because he was accepted into grad school in
the first place because he leapt onto the conference table in front of the
deans in the middle of the interview brandished an acoustic guitar and
sang a song called "MAD" to the tune of the GooGooDolls' "SLIDE" about
ARTISTIC TEAM BIOGRAPHIES continued

instructing students in Sophocles' play Antigone (pronounced Ant-Ig-

On-EE - just so you don't walk around the lobby saying something stu-
pid like "anti-gone"). Oh, he also made a ton of feature length movies in
college - (his first true foray into directing) and then hosted premiers
(full food and drink spreads) at his townhouse for his cast/crews of
friends and for all of his esteemed and beloved English professors some
of which used to drive all the way up to see his early stage shows.

Anyway... after college, Jason moved to Leesburg, taught seventh grade

at Belmont Ridge for four years and then opened Riverside High School
and has since taught 9A, 9H, 10A, 10H, 11A, 11H, AP Lang, 12A, Creative
Writing, and PEER. He has directed something like 36 plays and musi-
cals between RiverHawk, POP, PIEARTS, and this, his company, Infinite
Arts and has made incredible, lifelong, rich, uplifting, meaningful
friendships with so many adults, children, and people who once were
children and then in the past 13 years morphed into adults. He also
began making films with the legendary David Sawyer. If you have not
yet watched Abducted on Tubi, you are crazy. Literally, these kids have
their own IMDB pages, own Letterboxd and are streaming! David wrote
the script and Jason wrote the shooting script. This same illustrious
team has been chatting again this fall and are deciding to literally "flip
the script." The next film (info coming soon so seriously contact Jason if
your kid is interested in participating on weekends this winter) will be
written by Jason and a shooting script written by David. We learned so
much during the first film and cannot wait to do it again!

But I digress... This community is the best and he cannot wait to contin-
ue to serve you all as the English Department Chair - a promotion,
which he is told, he brings up too much, but is REALLY REALLY enjoy-
ing. Guys, should I become admin? Like should I pursue that? Let me
know your thoughts! If you're still reading this, Jason would like to
apologize because it probably means you're incredibly bored and wait-
ing for the show to start. Or intermission to end. No doubt, either is
running late. But ya'll, these kids are crazy talented, the adults helping
in their myriad ways are second to none, and this show, as always is
dedicated to all of you incredible people.

P.S. Is this my best bio yet?

Circle one: YES, NO, MAYBE
