Every animal has a special place where it lives, called its habitat. A
habitat provides everything an animal needs to survive, such as food,
water, and shelter. For example, a forest is a habitat for many animals
like deer, birds, and squirrels. In a forest, animals can find trees to
hide in and plenty of plants to eat. Another example is the desert. The
desert is very dry and has little rain. Animals like camels and lizards
live in the desert. They have special ways to find water and stay cool.
The ocean is also a habitat. It is home to fish, dolphins, and whales.
The ocean provides food and space for these animals to swim and
live. Each animal is adapted to its specific habitat. This means they
have special features that help them survive in their homes. For
instance, polar bears have thick fur to keep warm in the icy Arctic.
