In Punjab National Bank (PNB), Child Care Leave (CCL) is granted to female employees

for the purpose of taking care of their children, as per the guidelines laid down by the
bank. The policies are in line with the government norms, and the key provisions
generally include:

Eligibility:

 Female employees of the bank are eligible to avail CCL.

 The leave is primarily for the care of children under the age of 18 years.

 Adoptive mothers are also eligible for this leave, as long as the child is below 18
years of age.

Duration of Child Care Leave:

 Female employees can avail of up to 2 years (730 days) of CCL during their
entire service in the bank.

 CCL can be availed in multiple spells.

Conditions for CCL:

1. Care of children: The leave can be used for taking care of children, especially
during sickness or when the child requires special attention (for example, if the
child is su ering from a serious illness).

2. Medical Treatment: It can also be taken in cases where the child is undergoing
medical treatment and needs the mother's care.

3. The leave is non-cumulative, meaning it doesn't carry over if unused.

4. The leave can be taken as full or half days, depending on the situation.

Salary During Child Care Leave:

 Full salary is generally paid for the entire duration of CCL.

 It is considered as special leave with full pay, meaning it is not deducted from
the employee's earned leave balance.

Procedure for Applying for CCL:

1. Application to HR: Employees need to submit a written application to the

bank's HR department, mentioning the reason for taking CCL.

2. Supporting Documents: In some cases, such as medical treatment for the

child, relevant medical certificates or supporting documents may be required.

3. Approval Process: The application for CCL is subject to approval by the bank's
management based on the need and operational requirements.
Other Points to Note:

 CCL can be combined with other leave types (like Sick Leave or Casual Leave),
but it should be approved according to the bank's leave policy.

 The leave can be interrupted but must be used within the same year for the
purpose of child care.

Since policies can be updated or di er by region, it’s best to refer to the specific PNB
employee handbook or HR department for any further details or updates on the CCL
provisions.
