Question 3.
(i) A watch tower of height 120 m observes the angle of depression of two boats on the same side of
the tower to be 46˚ and 58˚ . Find the distance between the two boats if the same line pass through
the base of the tower. Answer to nearest whole number. [4]
(ii) A hemispherical and a conical hole is scooped out of a solid
wooden cylinder . Find the volume of the remaining solid .
Height of the cylinder is 7 cm , height of the cone is 3 cm.
Radius of each cylinder, cone and hemisphere is 3 cm. [4]

(iii) Using ruler and compasses only :
(a) Construct a Δ ABC with BC = 6 cm, ∠ ABC = 120˚ and AB = 3.5 cm.
(b) Draw a circle with BC as diameter. Find a point ‘P’ on the circumference of the circle which is
equidistant from AB and BC.
(c) Measure ∠ BCP. [5]

(i) A shopkeeper buys an article from a wholesaler for Rs 40,000 . He marks the price of the article
20% above the cost price and sells it to a customer at a discount of 8% on the marked price .
If the sales are intra – state and the rate of GST is 15% , find :
(a) the marked price of the article
(b) the total amount (including GST) paid by the customer .
(c) the amount of tax (under GST) paid by the shopkeeper to the State Government . [3]

(i) The difference between the outer and inner curved surface of a hollow cylindrical metal pipe is 44 cm² .
The length of the pipe is 14 cm . Find the inner and outer radii of pipe, if the volume of the metal
used in the pipe is 99 cm³. [5]

(i) Priyanka has a cumulative deposit account of Rs 400 per month for 5 years . If she gets Rs 30,100 at
the time of maturity , find the rate of interest . [3]
(ii) Find the value of m , for which the following equation has real and equal roots

(iii) There is a building of height 9 m at some distance from a tower . From the top of the building the
angle of elevation of the top of the tower is 54˚ and the angle of depression of the foot of the
tower is 45˚ . Find the height of the tower correct to one decimal place . [4]
Question 9.
(i) Arun and Rittika invest Rs 12000 each in buying shares of two companies. Arun buys 15% Rs100
shares at a discount of Rs 20, while Rittika buys Rs 25 shares at a premium of 20%. If both
receive equal dividends at the end of the year, find the rate percent of the dividend declared by
Rittika’s company. [3]

(iii) At present, Asha’s age (in years, whole number) is 2 more than the square of her daughter
