a) From the top of 38 m high tower, the angle of depression of the top of a building is
30°. If the height of the second building is 18 m, find the distance between the tower

b) When the two polynomials 𝑥 3 − 𝑝𝑥 2 + 𝑥 + 6 𝑎𝑛𝑑 2𝑥 3 − 𝑥 2 − (𝑝 + 3)𝑥 − 6 are divided
by 𝑥 − 3, the remainder is same. Find the value of p. [3]
c) If a, b, c are in continued proportion, prove
(𝑎2 − 𝑏 2 )(𝑏 2 + 𝑐 2 ) = (𝑏 2 − 𝑐 2 )(𝑎2 + 𝑏 2 ) [4]

b) A shopkeeper buys a printer at a discount of 30% on the marked price of `8000. He
sells the printer to a customer at the marked price. GST charged at each stage is
18%. Find

(ii) The price paid by the shopkeeper for the article inclusive of tax.
(iii) The cost to the customer inclusive of tax. [3]
c) The base area of a cone is 1386 cm2 and its volume is 12936 cm3. Find the curved
surface area of the cone. [4]

b) Cards are marked with numbers from 15 to 55 and well shuffled. One card is drawn
at random. What is the probability that it is
(i) a perfect square
(ii) a multiple of 3 and 4

b) Using properties of proportion solve for 𝑥

Question 7

a) From the top of a light house, the angles of depression of two ships on the same
side of the light house are 60° 𝑎𝑛𝑑 45°. Find the height of the light house, if the
distance between the ships is 36 m. Answer to the nearest metre. [3]
b) Using a graph paper, taking 1 cm = 1 unit along both x and y axis
(i) Plot A (0, 3), B (2, 3), C (3, 0), D (2, -3), E (0, -3).
(ii) Reflect B, C, D in y axis and name them B’, C’ and D’ respectively.
(iii) Write the co-ordinates of B’, C’ and D’
(iv) Write equation B’ D’
(v) State the geometrical name for the figure BCDD’C’B’B. [3]
c) In the following figure, a circle is inscribed in the quadrilateral ABCD. If BC = 38
cm, QB = 27 cm, DC= 25 cm and AD ⊥ DC. Find the radius of the circle. [4]

b) In an auditorium, the number of rows was equal to the number of seats in each row.
When the number of rows was doubled and the number of seats in each row was
reduced by 12, then the number of seats was increased by 1300. How many rows were
there? How many seats were there? [3]
c) Given below are the weekly wages of 40 workers in a small factory. If their mean weekly

b) If 12th term of an AP is -13 and the sum of its four terms is 24, what is the sum

c) AB is a tangent to the circle with centre Q. PQRS is a cyclic quadrilateral. If
∠𝑃𝑆𝑄 = 38°, ∠𝑃𝑄𝑅 = 110°. Find:

(ii) ∠𝑃𝑄𝐴
(iii) ∠𝑅𝑄𝐵

Question 11

a) A car covers a distance of 400 km with certain speed had the speed been
12 km/h more the time taken for the journey would have been 1 hour 40 min less.
Find the original speed of the car. [4]
b) The table shows scores obtained by 120 shooters in a shooting competition. Using
graph, draw an ogive and estimate.
