ENGLISH LANGUAGE CARNIVAL 2011 Date : 19th of JULY 2011 Day : Tuesday Venue : Dewan Seri Tanjung Time

: 8 a.m until 3 p.m The English Languange Carnival of IPG Campus Ipoh was held under the guidance of its teacher advisor Mr Muhammad Yusni Bin Mohd Junos, The Head of Languange Department.The English Languange Carnival was held in middle of July. This exhibition was organized by English Studies Unit (TESL) and all unit K that take English Studies as minor subject. 1.0 Activities before the carnival. There are a lot of activities held before the exhibition.One of the activities is Public Speaking Competition. Besides, there are also Produce Story-Board or as known as Movie Making Competition. There are also Fund Raising activities such as Car Wash Activities and Jumble Sales activities . 1.1 Public Speaking Public Speaking was held at Dewan Siantan . All units compulsory to send representative and participate in this competition . This competition got supportive response from students at IPG Campus Ipoh. 1.2 Producing Story board These competition also known as Movie Making Competition conducted by TESL unit . These competition got great response from students at IPG Campus Ipoh . This competition joined by group. There are five members in each group. Each group have to pay RM10 to joined these competition. These competition based on 5 themes . The themes are health, sport, invention, entertainment, and also fashion. All groups that had joined this competition had to create one movie using graphics and audio with their own idea based on the theme chosen. This competition trained participants to

think of creative idea to give useful information through movie making to attract others lecturers and students. 1.3 Car wash Car Wash activities was conducted by unit J from TESL unit . These activities is a platform for the campus community to know each other better and foster a rappot between students, lecturers and the staff. 1.4 Jumble sales There are also Jumble sales activities. Jumble sales activities was an unique activities.These activies was conducted by TESL unit. The members of TESL unit asked donated for things that are still find but not used anymore by the staffs and the lecturers.Then,they sales for the students and the profit is used for carnival budget.

2.0 Activities during the carnival The English Languange Carnival was proficiency exhibition . There are many booth organized by all unit K that take English Studies as minor subject. There are 4 units, K14, K17, K18, and K19. 2.1 Exhibition

2.11 Music Around The World K14 was handled booth based on theme Music Around The World. They provided some information related with music on the board. Their information about composition of music , history behind music era, Asian music culture, music note and others. Besides, they also prepare some musical instrument such as keyboard, nasyid instrument likes kerinchi and others. They was also prepared some music video and shown on the screen.

2.12 Food Around The World

K17 was organized booth based on Food Around The World. They choosed various kind of food from ten country. The country are Malaysia, Thailand, China, Japan,India,Turkey,America,Saudi Arabia,France and Italy. They also prepared food sample from ten country on their booth. For example Milk Halva from Saudi Arabia, Som Tam from Thailand, Vadai from India and of course nasi lemak ,local food from Malaysia and others.

2.13 Festivals Around The World Festivals Around The World was organized by K18. The festival chosen, Kuala Lumpur InternationalBatik,Malaysia,Melbourne Festival from Australia ,Chocolate Lovers Festival from Virgina, Kiruna Snow Festival on Sweden, Yam Festival by Africa and others. They also conducted games such as puzzle and snake ladder. Besides, they also prepare replica Perak Snowman and Winter Replica. They also prepared gift for guest such as lollipop with bookmark,yam cupcake,cake chocolate and others.

2.14 Destinations Around The World K19 was organized Destinations Around The World. Their destination are CXoral Bay, Western Australia, The Al-Hambra, Sepadu Island,Petra Jordan , Disney Land and others interesting destination. They also prepared replica on each destination chosen. Besides,they also provided some information of their destination on the board.

2.2 Self Acess Learning Book This booth was handled by J4. They show on how teacher should teach based on reading lessons. They also shows on how the intonasy .Besides,they also provided big books of story as they suggest for teacher.

2.3 TESL booth TESL booth story about Macbeth Dungeon by Shakespeare . They also have model of their character on this story. Besides, there are also another TESL booth by K10 and L2. K10 was conducted Chain Story and L2 booth provided information about TESL subject.

The English Language received very encouraging support from students IPG Campus

Ipoh and students from s primary school . Every unit that participated on this carnival shows great afford and used their creativity to decorated their booth. In conclusion, The English Language Carnival was very interesting and fun. These carnival provided many benefits as a lot of info provided on each booth. I hope more carnival to come in next year.
