ADDITIONAL UPCOMING COURSES & WORKSHOPS AT DUNDARAVE IN FALL 2012 Multiple-Plate Etching Hannamari Jalovaara September 18 - Oct 9 This

course will focus on colour printing with multiple copper plates. Students will learn to build richer colours and forms by using aquatint and lines in layers. Individual instruction and discussions throughout the class. This course is suitable for students with a basic background in etching and aquatint. The Painterly Print Heather Aston Oct 16th - Nov 27th In this course, participants will explore both watercolour and oil-based monotype techniques. Students will receive individual attention regarding drawing, painting, and composition and learn to print using a manual press. Along with technique, students are introduced to different papers, materials and the experience of working in a studio atmosphere. The course will open new possibilities for expression while exploring colour, form and line. There will be discussion and class critiques throughout. Suitable for any level of ability and as an introduction to the Print Studio and Practice.

With less than 2 weeks notice, DPW will refund fees minus an administrative fee of $50. Cancellations: A course may occasionally be cancelled due to insufficient enrolment or other unforeseen circumstance. If DPW cancels a course, a full refund or credit for another course will be issued.

Aluminocean by Daemon Baldwin

Both the novice and the advanced printmaker will find DPW printmaking classes that accommodate and challenge their skill level. Courses are held throughout the year on Tuesday evenings, 7-10 pm (unless otherwise noted). Class sizes are kept to a minimum in order to facilitate individual instruction.

In July, a new brochure will be issued for fall of 2012, with all additional courses and dates.

Window on Monotypes Denise Tonner June 19 - July 24 Tuesdays, 7 - 10 pm In this enjoyable 5-class course, participants will create monotypes using watercolours and oil-based inks. As the class progresses, they will explore a variety of techniques such as using stencils, wiping ink from the plate (reduction monotype) and creating texture. Course Fee: $180 + tax Additional $15 in class fee for additional course materials. 8 participants maximum Denise Tonner has been a printmaker for 12 years. She has 30 years experience in the field of education.

Photo-Based Etching - Advanced Daemon Baldwin July 31 - Sept. 4 Tuesdays, 7-10 pm Learn to etch photo based imagery into copper using home brewed methods. No longer will you feel the need for a darkroom, a fancy exposure unit, or any other specific-use, expensive equipment. It all starts with your home computer and Photoshop, and quickly moves to the etching bath. Note: Students must have basic computer skills in Photoshop and understand aquatinting with copper. Course Fee: $250 + tax Additional $20 in class fee for additional course materials. 8 participants maximum Daemon Baldwin is a part-time instructor in visual fundamentals & Photoshop at the college level. The rest of his constructive time is spent on art or graphic design projects. A move to Vancouver 7 years ago has provided the community foundation and resources to continue the pursuit of his dream of becoming a full-time artist. Daemon`s educational background includes an MFA in Printmaking.

Cyanotype Workshop (Blue Photo Print) Daemon Baldwin Saturday, August 18 11 am - 4:30 pm - a one-day intensive for amateur photographers Take any image and make a negative using basic photo software and a home printer. With your negative you will create a cyanotype on archival paper. This technique uses non-toxic powders, water and the sun to make wonderful images. Additional instruction in how to alter the colouring of the cyanotype will be included. 8 participants maxiumum Course Fee: $85 + tax Additional $15 in class fee for additional course materials.

Open Studio June 5 & 12 Tuesdays, 7 - 10 pm Fee: $35 per session Open Studios are intended to allow students taking courses at Dundarave to access the studio for open use outside of class times with a technician present.
