Theogony

According to Hesiod in the 'Theogony', at the beginning of everything

there was only chaos ("kaos" or pure space, the void) of
that three generations of gods emerged.

1st GENERATION OF GODS OR GENERATION OF HEAVEN AND

THE EARTH

Gaia, the fertile Earth, bore Uranus, the Sky and

they formed the first couple of gods, the origin of everything
universe. Uranus and Gaia created rivers, seas, and mountains,
animals and creatures like the Titans, the Titanides, the
Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires (giants with a hundred hands).
Uranus, for fear of being overthrown, forced to remain
to all these creatures within the womb of their mother Gaia.
Gea, tired of suffering from her children's confinement, delivered a
golden fleece to the youngest and strongest of the Titans, his son
Crono, with the what castro a Uranus.
Uranus's genitals fell into the sea near Cyprus and its
seed generated a foam ("aphros") from which sprang
Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty.
The blood of Uranus fertilized Gaia who gave birth to the
Giants and the Furies.

2nd GENERATION OF GODS OR GENERATION OF THE

TITANS

Cronus, Time, took his sister the Titaness as his wife.

Rea, the Nature.
This generation of Titans also did not establish an order.
Just. Crono feared being dethroned and to prevent it, he sent to
the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires to Tartarus (hell) and
he devoured all his children as soon as they were born.
Cronus and Rhea conceived Hestia, goddess of the home,
Demeter, goddess of cultivation and grains, Hera, goddess of
marriage, Hades, god of the underworld and
Poseidon, god of the seas. They were all devoured by
Crono.
The youngest of his children, Zeus, was saved thanks to Rhea.
delivered to Cronos a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes that he
he/she/it swallowed
sin to suspect the deception.
Rhea hid Zeus in a cave on Mount Ida (Crete)
where the goat Amalthea nursed her who later
Zeus rewarded him by giving him a place in the firmament.
the skin of Amalthea made the "aegis", a shield symbol of
its power and with the antlers the 'Cornucopia' or 'horn of
the abundance." At the entrance of the cave, Rhea placed the
"Coribantes" or "Curetes" so that they could disguise with their
thundering warrior dances the child's cry.

THE 3rd GENERATION OR GENERATION OF THE GODS

OLYMPIC

When Zeus grew older, he confronted his father Cronus.

With the help of the goddess Metis, she gave Cronos an emetic to
to free all his brothers from their father's womb. It
the first thing Crono vomited was the stone that had been
swallowed instead of Zeus, called "Omphalos" (navel) that
fell in Delphi, at the foot of Mount Parnassus where
established one of the most influential oracles of Greece.
Zeus and his five brothers, assisted by some Titans
like Prometheus, they fought against Cronus and the Titans. This
the struggle is known as Titanomachy (battle of
the Titans.
The Titans fought from Mount Otris and Zeus and his
brothers from Mount Olympus. After ten years of
the fights were very even.
Then Zeus freed the Cyclopes from Tartarus and the
Centimans and gave them nectar and ambrosia, food of the
gods, so that they could regain their strength. The Cyclopes in
they made some fearsome weapons in their volcanic forge for
Zeus: the lightning, the thunder, and the flash, a helmet for
Hades y one trident for Poseidon.

In the final battle

order confronted chaos and the Olympians rose with
the victory, throwing the Titans into Tartarus where
they put the Centimani as jailers. Atlas, one of
the Titans were condemned to bear forever the weight
of the vault celeste.
Later, the Olympic gods faced two
fierce sieges of Olympus, the first was the Gigantomachy
the battle of the Giants who were also defeated and
buried low enormous mountains.
Finally, Gaia gave birth to the monster, Typhon, colossal.
winged creature, with a hundred snakes spread across
his thighs that spewed flames from his mouth. Also it
he defeated Zeus and buried him in the depths of the volcano
Etna (Sicily).
Zeus took his sister Hera as his wife and ruled the
world, along with his brothers and children, from Olympus.
The children of Zeus and Hera were Ares and Hephaestus. In addition,
Zeus had Apollo and Artemis with Leto, with the oceanid.
