Hidden Talents

The movie tells the true story of three brilliant African American women in mathematics, programming, and engineering - Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson - who worked at NASA in the 1960s. Despite racial and gender discrimination, the three fought to improve and advance in their careers, helping NASA send astronauts into space during the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union.

Hidden Figures, a movie that is set in the 1960s,

what represents a story based on true events, in which three women
Brilliant Afro-Americans in mathematics, the beginnings of programming
computational and in engineering, Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson
respectively, those who worked at NASA in the West Computing Area,
an area that was only for African Americans, the three had a strong desire and fought
to improve, advance and achieve their goals, however they had to fight
against the supremacy and contempt that the 'white' society had against him/her,
but in the world there was a confrontation between the United States and Russia for the
“dominion of the world” during and after the Cold War, as well as by satellites and travels
to space, so the competition between both countries results in opening up
even more volunteers to help with this project, but since there are not that many people
with skills in mathematics and analytical geometry, engineering, and general assistance
in these areas, where Vivian is referencing the positions that are needed
to take care of, so Dorothy is the one who acts as the supervisor of this area but without
holding the position, an opportunity arises in the construction and improvement of the
"rocket" or cabin for the Supersonic Pressure Tunnel, under the supervision of
engineer Kazimierz, who encourages her to become an engineer in order to
fulfill his wish thanks to his great skills, starting to take a course in
engineering at a university for whites where she was not allowed to enter because of her race
and gender, thus beginning a trial to enter and become the first woman
African American who studies at a school for whites and is the first engineer of
NASA, on the other hand, Katherine begins to take a position as a 'calculator or
"human computer" where he calculated the flight trajectories of the project
Mercury and later the Apollo 11 flight to the Moon working on
a group with several white men, where Al Harrison was the director of that area and
Paul Stafford was his 'right hand' who initially despised Katherine for
being an African American woman, however she demonstrates her great skill with the
numbers and their ingenuity to solve problems, but she had a limitation, the

review them and check them, as it takes approximately 40 minutes to do so.

in the files with the calculations classified and crossed out by Paul, but she wins
Harrison's confidence, who removes the labels and divisions between both races.
so that Katherine and everyone could go to the nearest bathroom and not fall behind with their

work, at the same time, she gains Harrison's trust and asks to be a part of
from the board team to know the variables of the satellites, cabins, ships (or
whatever they are called), gaining the trust of the board and of
John Glenn (military pilot and astronaut) thanks to the demonstration he makes. Dorothy
plays an important role in the area of computer programming,
starting with the arrival of the most advanced IBM, which no one had achieved
to make it work more than her, thus making the decision to learn the language of
FORTRAN programming and teaching her coworkers so that they do not
they will be left without work in the future since IBM needed a lot of people for

area, but she refuses because she wanted to take all the girls to whom they
he had taught, until Vivian accepts. Throughout the movie, the ...
lives of the three friends, going through singleness, the role of mother and father for their
children, the relationship with men and obviously also the segregation they suffer
for being women and of African American descent.

I choose to focus on the struggle to improve and move forward by breaking through.
with the 'stereotypes', the desire to learn and surpass those around us, no
not to be defeated by anything, that NASA broke all those distinctions between
race and gender to improve interactions, work efficiency by eradicating everything
this and the support they receive from their collaborators and the recognition of
his skills and work.

Why: I believe it is important not to pay attention to what we cannot do and the
stupid reasons of 'why it would not be right', the satisfaction of achieving something for oneself
same, break the 'barriers' that we create between us to improve as
society.

What I don't accept: I don't accept gender and race discrimination.

insensitivity of people to look beyond and do what is possible to lessen
someone for any reason, preventing people from achieving themselves, the ego that in
generally presented the men and especially the 'whites'.

Why: It is shown that we have learned nothing in the last centuries, without
embargo is fundamental for the development of the film, the treatment is not pleasant that
they receive and it is being selfish and avoiding an improvement at the expense of the common good.
