Police report the suspect is now wearing a tie-dye shirt, khaki shorts and is barefoot .

EMERGENCY UPDATE 4:30 P. M-- Suspect in police custody

BLACKSBURG, VA ., August 21, 2006 -- Police have apprehended William Charles Morva,
suspect in the fatal shooting of a security guard and a sheriff's deputy, and the wounding o f
a nother sheriff 's deputy , and the suspect is now in custody .

Virginia Tech wishes to express profund appreciation to officers of the Virginia Tech Police
Department, Blacksburg Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, and the
Virginia State Police for their exhaustive, diligent, and successful efforts on behalf of the
campus community .

Virginia Tech will resume full normal operations on Tuesday , August 22 .

EMERGENCY UPDATE 3 : 50 P . M .-- Suspect reported to be in custod y

Blacksburg Police have reportedly captured William Charles Morva, suspect in the fatal
shooting of a Montgomery Regional Hospital security guard and a Montgomery Count y
sheriff's deputy, and the wounding of another deputy .

EMERGENCY UPDATE 12 : 45 P . M . : Employees north of Drillfield asked to leave


campu s

The university is asking that all employees on the north side of the Drillfield depart from
work and leave for the day . When exiting the campus, please use the Prices Fork entrance .
Southgate Drive remains closed .

Further information for remaining employees will be provided as soon as possible .

All classes , events , programs , meetings , and other activities scheduled for the
Blacksburg campus on Monday , August 21 , are cancelled .

mail, and your phone mail . We will provide further information on shift work tomorro w
sometime before midnight.
