Any student who is interested in digital film making realization would be that of self awareness. You can't do it all. The best directors understand this concept. It's why the best films are recognized as more of a group effort, rather than a one man show. The most basic thing to understand is that a film isn't created in one instance, but that it takes time and resources. Digital film making isn't much different than regular film making in this regard. Both need adequate stories and an excellent team of creatives. The differences are in the budget and the ease of digital. No one can argue against the cost effectiveness of a digital format. Whatever you do, just don't give up on a whim. It's not an easy business. It takes time and dedication to get your work out there and no one is an instant success. It's all a process and you're just starting out, whatever aspect of the digital film revolution you take part in; you can only go up from the bottom.

10-Days intensive workshop on Digital Filmmaking


This 10 days workshop teaches the fundamentals and the basics for Digital filmmaker. From script to screen, students will learn to develop a concept into a story, a story into a script, characterization, understand Digital camera operations, shooting techniques, voice recording / dubbing editing and adding those final touches including titles and music. Digital film making is a unique blend of art and technology. After the workshop, all the students will understand complete digital film techniques and will be able to identify their area of interest to further develop their skills. Digital filmmaking careers are relatively young. As the digital medium matures, some of the challenges may be resolved. For now, however, it is enough to say that while digital isn't replacing film, it's adding a whole new dimension of possibility to the film industry. And that makes a digital filmmaking career worth pursuing.

Course Objectives:
This course is designed to prepare students for the competitive video and film industries with an emphasis on narrative filmmaking. In doing so, this course will require the following: 1. Students will become familiarized with the roles of screenwriter, art director, cinematographer, producer, director, camera operator, actor, and editor through a series of individual projects. 2. Students will be required to write and break down an original short film script. (Character Sheets, Beat Sheets, Scene Breakdowns, Shot Lists, Floor Plans) 3. Students will conduct a professional pitch that will be presented for competition to determine group film projects. 4. Students will learn how to direct actors through a series of techniques. 5. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of filmmaking literature and present their findings to the class. (All will read Scriptwriting for Teens) 6. Students work in small production companies following individualized group film projects from conceptualization to exhibition.

Outcome from the workshop:


1. Students will understand the value of filmmaking as a performing and visual art; design, technique, screenwriting and as an enhancement to life skills and their environment. 2. Identify storytelling techniques common to both film and other forms of art such as literary works. 3. Identify and explain the elements of filmmaking process. 4. Identify the central idea of a film and develop this interpretation in a coherent and organized manner. 5. Analyze a films relevance to our time as well as its own. 6. Introduces the fundamental techniques, technology, and specialized areas of professional activity associated with film production including Producing, Directing, Cinematography and Editing. Explore the art of filmmaking using digital technology. Course requires producing a short film from script to the screen. You will write, produce, cast, direct, shoot and edit a short film in a genre of your choice. Film theory and techniques will be explored and applied in the production. You will be using HD equipment for acquisition and finishing.
