- Well today I would like to tell you about a very famous game show that I really enjoy
watching during my free time, and in fact it’s one of the very few TV show that I can
actually fit into my schedule /ˈskedʒ.uːl/ since I don’t watch a lot of TV shows. This is
“ Masterchef”.
- I should kick off with the category /ˈkæt̬.ə.ɡri/ of the show. As can be inferred ( in
phơ đờ) from the name, MasterChef is a cooking series/’siri:z/ that searches( sớt chiz) for
the best amateur /ˈæm.ə.tʃɚ/ chefs and gives them the opportunity /ˌɒp.əˈtʃuː.nə.ti/
to change their lives ( laiz) with their talent, passion for cooking and their best efforts. ( e

- I still remember the first time I watched( watch ttt) the show 5 years ago. It was a
winter evening…when my family was sitting in the living room after dinner….seeking
for something interesting on TV to watch. I was immediately /ɪˈmiː.di.ət.li/ attracted( ơ
tractid) by the show, and have been a loyal( loi ol) viewer since then.
- This show is broadcast /ˈbroːd.kæst/ once a week on Sunday on FOX and attracts a
huge/ hiu dg/ number of audiences ( /ˈɔː.di.əns ) of all ages( ei dgiz). Each episode
(/ˈep.ə.soʊd/) lasts about two hours, which is quite long, but I have never felt ( feo t)
bored while watching it.
- And you know, the show is hosted by Gordon Ramsay( go dun ram zi), one( goan) of
the most powerful and eminent( e mi nunt) chefs in the world.
- In terms of the main content of the show, it is a competitive /kəmˈpet̬.ə.t̬ɪv/ cooking
series that puts the candidates under various challenges( cha lit) without any prior /praɪər/
notice ( nau tics) /ˈnoʊ.t̬ɪs/. For example, they can be asked to prepare a daily family meal
this week, and then have to team up to serve hundreds of people with sophisticated /sə
ˈfɪs.tɪ.keɪ.tɪd/ menu /ˈmen.juː/ next week.
- In general, the competition /ˌkɒm.pəˈtɪʃ.ən/ follows a 4-event cycle, started with
mystery box. All contestants will be given the same ingredients /ɪnˈɡriː.di.ənt/ to create a
dish and the judges will select the best dish to be the winner who has a huge advantage in
the elimination /iˈlɪm.ɪ.neɪt/ test. The next is team challenge, in which two team will have
to cook a meal for guests and the team with more votes from them will win. The last
event is pressure test, in which losing team members have to make a standard dish and
the losing cook will be eliminated. Two or three best chefs will enter the finale ( fi na li).
Based on the taste, visual appeal and overall composition( kơm pơ zi suừn), the judges
then decide who will be the winner and receive 250,000 ( two hundred and fifty
thouzand) dollars reward ( ri wod) as well as their own cookbook.
- What I love about this show is the creativity /ˌkriː.eɪˈtɪv.ə.t̬i/ and passion of the
contestants. They push themselves to the limit and experiment /ɪkˈsper.ə.mənt/ with new
flavors( flei vos) and excellent /ˈek.səl.ənt/ cooking skills to create eye-catching and
delicious dishes.
- Throughout many seasons ( si zun) , the contestant who made an impression on me was
Christine Ha. She is a visually impaired( im perd) person. Managing to overcome all the
obstacles /ˈɒb.stə.kəl/ to achieve the title MasterChef, Christine has proved to the entire
world what she could do. She is blind but this can’t( kan) prevent her from becoming a
great cook. A strong will always live(liv) in her. I really admire her and want to meet her
one day in the future
- Master Chef is regarded as one of the most entertaining and educational cooking
programs. I have learned so much about cooking and food presentation ( pre zun) from
watching MasterChef. The show has inspired( in spai ờ) me to try new recipes ( re sow
pi) and challenge( cha lidg) myself in the kitchen. I find this show quite intriguing( in tri
ging) not only for adults( a đột) but also for children as we can learn a lot from
contestants, such as their dedication and patience. Besides, it also helps us to boost
creativity( cri ei ti vơ ti) or inspires children to pursue their dreams of becoming
renowned chefs in the future
