The sad passing of a diva legend

Full of the joys of spring

T
he sun is shining, the first lambs are appearing in the fields, the smell of freshly cut grass is wafting through the air and at over ten degrees - you would nearly think there was a heat wave. Aprils here and although Spring officially began in March, it hasnt felt much like it until the last few weeks, when its been warm enough to venture out without a coat and scarf. As much as I love wrapping up all cosy and warm, I LOVE seeing the better weather coming in and the opportunity to wear flip flops and pumps arriving. It gives me a sort of warm, fuzzy, happy feeling inside. Back to nicely painted toe nails and glowing tanned skin every week, whether you are going out or not. Its good to make more of an effort to look nice when the sun is shining. Even if that does admittedly include putting on sun shimmer up to your calves just so your feet look brown (everyone does it not just me!). OK so its not technically warm enough to go out in our airs as our mothers would say but the temperature is without a doubt increasing. Anyway, enough about the weather with the hour going forward and brighter mornings and evenings, Im in a very happy state of mind and I have a definite spring in my step... har de har har. Ive even been getting out of the pit a lot earlier than usual and that is NOT like me. Anyone that knows me knows, I could quite literally sleep for Ireland (Ive been told my snoozing ability is amazing). Since my New Years resolution to be more productive had, as I predicted been put on the back burner since late January, and there is still a lot of daylight in the evenings, Im more inclined to put the biscuits away and drag myself off the sofa and actually do something. Go for a run, clean out my wardrobe (and thats a days work even thinking about it), clean my car and bask in the fact that it stays clean for more than an hour, are just a few of the activities that fill my evenings. Ive also found myself taking advantage of a good drying day when doing my washing. How times have changed, mum would be proud. Writing this makes me realise that Im actually quite sad, but due to the empty purse, shopping and a beer garden are just dreams. As well as spring cleaning your wardrobe (think of all the room for the new summer clothes God bless Primark!) its always a good time to spring clean your life cause youre more motivated. What youre doing with it, where youre going (if anywhere) and ways to improve it. Were also approaching concert season too, which I love. We usually get to a couple every year. Snow Patrol and Pink last year and Oxegen the year before. I never had myself down as an Oxegen girl because believe me, Im an absolute chicken when it comes to creepy crawlies and gross things like that but I can honestly say it was one of the best weekends of my life. I highly recommend it and am seriously considering hitting it this year. If the funds stretch that far. When this column is printed it will probably be lashing outside with a sky full of even more (Irish weather sucks) but youll get the general gist. And if nothing else it will just get us excited about the impending fun and frolics of Summer 2011. Spring is quite simply only just the beginning

t was the end of an era when the legend that is Elizabeth Taylor sadly passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. I may be too young to have known her in her own time but Ive seen numerous films of hers she was an iconic actress and an amazing woman. I was so amused when I learned that she had been married eight times to seven different husbands. Liz was some girl - she knew how to play the field! And in true Elizabeth style (apparently she was late for everything), she left strict instructions with her publicist that on the day of her funeral, everything was to run 15 minutes behind schedule as she wanted to be fashionably late for her own funeral. When I read this I (and the rest of the world I imagine) smiled. Long live the Diva!

BOOTY BEAT OF THE WEEK You gotta love a bit of J-Lo so I for one am glad shes back. To hear she had teamed up with Pitbull (I know you want me) made me even happier. On the Floor lives up to its name.

Writing this makes me realise that Im actually quite sad, but due to the empty purse, shopping and a beer garden are just dreams.

J-Lo is back with another single.

WINOS BACK Amy Winehouse is set to release her first song in almost four years. Excellent. MAX FACTOR LIP TINT Lipstick in a pen. Sounds weird but definitely wonderful as it stays put all night and comes in gorgeous pinks and reds. Perfect for a night out. ADELE V MADONNA Adele has matched Madonnas record for having a number one album for nine consecutive weeks.

MYLEENES BABY NAME Ive always been a fan of Myleene Klass so I cant believe she called her baby girl Hero. Its a bit OTT. Talk about having high expectations of that child! ORANGE LIPSTICKS This is all the trend this season apparently. I think Ill give this one a miss. SINGING KERRY As if her TV programme wasnt bad enough we are now going to be subjected to a single from Kerry Katona. I have nothing further to say.
