Hello! You
Tell me a story?
I am Mari, the founder of the brand.
Deco Candle Place.
I began to venture into this
wonderful world of Candles
of soy when I saw a video and
I inevitably fell in love.
at first glance.
I am a licensed psychologist and during the pandemic, the power
forgetting the worries of the mind and abstracting myself from
everything doing something manual and beautiful, it was magical.
And this that started as a hobby turned into a job
wonderful that allowed me to quit a job in
dependency and continue only doing what I love: to care
patients and make very very scented candles.
I propose that you enjoy this so much and put so much into it.
love that life surprises you tomorrow as it did with me.
Why
Soy Candles?
Because they present large
benefits over paraffin,
what is toxic and what is a
derived from petroleum.
Soy candles:
They are 100% natural.
It is a product derived from a plant, an unlimited source,
renewable and biodegradable. They are also suitable for vegans.
Its combustion poses no risk because it is 100%
natural and non-toxic.
They produce no waste or soot, so they won't stain your
walls, curtains or furniture.
The wicks are natural, made of cotton threads.
pure that do not produce toxic smoke nor contain particles of
lead.
Its melting point is very low, it is between 40ºC and 42ºC.
so the risk of burns is very limited.
Due to its low melting point, its combustion is very slow.
they last 2/3 times longer than paraffin ones. Therefore
they are more profitable and have greater brightness.
This also allows it to burn completely,
taking full advantage of the candle without waste.
The packaging is extremely easy to clean, just need
detergent and hot water.
·
Soy candles delicately scent an environment even
when they are turned off, because having a higher melting point
low retain the aroma better and release it more gently and
with more stability.
They have a smooth, creamy texture, giving the candle a
very pleasant finish to the eye. When melted, they transform
in a vegetable oil.
Wax
of soy
Soy wax is obtained from the soybean grain, from which it is
extract the oil. Subsequently, it undergoes a process of
hydrogenated that transforms it into solid fat. This process
convert polyunsaturated and monounsaturated oils into
solid matter from the reaction of hydrogen with the oil at
high temperatures (140 - 220ºC). In this way, it converts
some of the fatty acids in oil from unsaturated to
saturated, dramatically altering the melting point of the
oil, turning it into a solid at room temperature.
It has a very low melting point, between 40/42 degrees.
Some of the most well-known refineries in Argentina are:
Reficen and Egramar..
Its expiration is only important when used in the
food industry, no when making candles.
Additives
It is known as: Hardener, Additive, or Enhancer of
burned.
Some of these additives are Stearic Acid and Stearin.
They give hardness to the sail. In addition to improving its finishing and
stability when burned. They allow a candle to last longer
time.
I advise you to buy plant-based hardeners, and
do not have animal components Make sure of it by asking the
supplier at the time of purchase.
Essences
The essences to be used must be of good quality, of
recognized laboratories or suppliers and must be suitable for
candles. They are synthetic essences.
They are usually used between 6 and 10%. If you wanted to use more than
10% it's very possible that the essence does not integrate and you have
defects in the candle.
Important tips: Always keep your essences protected from light.
Keep in mind that they are very abrasive, so do not work.
about surfaces that can be marked as wooden tables.
Synthetic Essences
vs. Essential Oils
Synthetic essences are perfumes created artificially in
a laboratory for scenting.
Essential oils, on the other hand, are natural and are obtained
from the plants. They are aromatic volatile extracts and highly
concentrates. They are extremely expensive as they are needed
enormous amounts to carry out only a small part.
They are excellent for scenting massage candles or soaps.
natural, for example, but using them in common candles would be
a nonsense since they are extremely expensive and volatile and not
we would take advantage of its properties.
Threads

Mediums (18/85: up to approximately 5/6 cm)
Thick (27/87: up to approximately 7/7.5 cm)
Extra thick ("8T 321" up to 9/10 cm and "9T" up to 12/15 cm

If we use 2 wicks or more, there must be space between each wick.
a distance of approximately 3 cm and must be 1 cm from the edge of the
glass.
The small eyelet must be attached to the center of the glass so that the wick does not
"float" when the candle is nearing its end. And the wick must
adjust to the buttonhole using a clip.
Wooden wicks: They tend to extinguish, so it is advisable
use both together. Pressing both on the little buttonhole, they can be
nail it in.
What should I use to stick the small eyelet to the cup?
I do not recommend what many use: Unipox, Uhu, cold silicone.
or hot due to being flammable. I absolutely recommend it.
use cold glue for candles.
CONTAINERS
Containers that can be used: Glass, aluminum, ceramics,
cement, plaster, clay, terracotta pots.
All porous containers must be waterproofed.
with 3 layers of water-based varnish on the inside and outside.
Wood is a flammable product, so it is not
recommended. In the case that you decide to use it, it should include
fireproof varnish. Never use plastic or acrylic.
Necessary materials
Low melting point soy wax 40/42º
Burn enhancer (hardener, additive)
Synthetic essences (also found as oils

Containers (packaging)
Formula
The percentages I recommend using are:
Hardener: choose the percentage to use taking into account
count the range indicated by the supplier and the weather.
Essence: between 6 and 10%
Soy wax: what we need to complete our filling
total, our 100% final product
A possible example:
If the total (final product) I want to make for filling were of
200 grams, I could make:
Hardener: 10% (20 g) (if I use a hardener that is used
between 5 and 10% and I am in summer, for example).
Watermelon essence: 10% (20 grams)
Soy wax: 80% (160 g)
Procedure
First, melt the enhancer over very low heat.
Do not neglect the fire as all materials are highly
flammables.
Once it is liquid, add the soy wax. Once
melted transfer to a preferably glass jar and place it
the thermometer.
Add the scented oil when the temperature is at 40
degrees and stir for about 2 minutes.
Then let rest for a few minutes. At 35/36 degrees, pour.
in the container vessels that must have their wick and eyelet
stuck. Slowly pour it in the center, never in the
borders. Hold the wick with clips or chopsticks so that
stay centered.
Let them dry for a whole day without moving them and away from drafts.
Then trim the wick to about 1 cm in length.

I advise you to always accompany your candles with a brochure.
that indicates the care of candles. Among the most
important:
The first time you turn it on, it must melt down to the
edge so that a tunnel does not form.
Never use it for more than 'X' consecutive hours (Or you can indicate
that the melted part does not exceed 1.5 cm
Extinguish it using a lid or a candle snuffer. Do not blow it out.
Periodically trim the wick.
Warnings
Since it is a flammable product, it is necessary to be attentive to:
Do not expose it to the sun, high temperatures, or drafts.
air.
Always place it on firm surfaces and cool places,
to avoid accidents.
Do not leave the candle lit if you are going to be away from the place.
Do not leave the candle lit within reach of children and pets.
Extinguish the candle when it is nearing the end of the container.
CHOCOLATES
AROMATIC

preparation.
It is recommended, if you are only going to make chocolates, to use the maximum
recommended hardener by the supplier (for example,
We would use 10% if it were a hardener that is used between 5.
and 10%) regardless of the weather.
How to use:
One or two chocolates are placed on top of a
ceramic stove, and a small candle is lit underneath at night.
The heat of the fire will melt the marshmallows releasing their
aroma.
Once all the essence has evaporated, you will no longer
smell more aroma. It's time to turn off the candle below,
let the wax solidify and then remove it with a spoon. That
the rest is discarded.
POSSIBLE ERRORS

Wax lift due to contraction (Rechup)
It happens due to temperature shocks when overturning the

Soy wax contracts with the cold and expands
with the heat. That generates a bubble of air that

Cracked surface: When small
marks on the surface like little wrinkles without much
relief can be due to various issues, among
they: hot pouring, air currents. or, as it was
in this case of the photo the use of a hardener

Possible solutions: Pour it as cold as possible

Very oily surface or cut wax appearance

Most of the time it is excess essence and in
the smaller number of times is because it was not integrated

Possible solutions: Make another candle of the same
form but with less essence to detect if the
The problem is that it is a dense essence.
Incorrect wick: When the wick is small
for the diameter of the container it makes a very flame
small and drowns. A tunnel is created that prevents
the correct one burned to the edges.
Possible solutions: Conduct wick tests to
to be able to choose the right one for each container.
To calculate the COSTS
You have to take into account everything you have used: wax, enhancer.

shipping costs, packaging, etc. When we are starting out we usually
use the rule of: multiply the cost by 2, by 2.5 or by 3. But you
