PTC helped find orphan children a pair of safe hands

Village Namaz Kot, with a hefty population of 350 household, is situated in far flung area of Maidan, district Dir Lower. The village has only two boys schools, middle and a primary level. Due to less educational institutes the literacy rate amongst both the sexes is very low, whereas its people have great desire for educating their progeny. When the construction work in GPS Nimaz Kot was started, its elected PTC and other community members were very much eager to help find the project team an alternate learning space for the students. After the training workshop on role and responsibilities of PTC, its members became very proactive. They took keen interest in managing the affairs of the schools and kept close contact with the project team. One of the serious challenges for PTC members was reenrollment of 19 out of school orphan children who had no one to bear their educational expenses. Mr. Mujeeb a key member of the PTC took notice of the case and with the help of other members started mobilizing the community elites to take responsibility of these children for getting education. it was a difficult task for us to find a pair of safe hands for these children, though we also thought of the PTC fund for helping these poor boys, but that was not a sound idea as the school will need it for addressing so many other issues, told by Mr. Mujeeb. The PTC resorted the project team to help them organize a grand meeting to decide about the future of the poor orphan children. The project team with the help of all PTC members mobilized the community for holding a grand meeting at village level. The meeting was fixed and organized in an open area having the presence of teachers, religious and key opinion leaders, the orphan children and elites of the community. During the meeting the religious and community leaders delivered provocative speeches, emphasizing the importance of education and religious, social and moral benefits of extending help to the needy ones. The whole village of Nimaz Kot witnessed the most touching yet historical moments when at the appeal of the PTC members three bold and brave gentlemen, Mr. Nasarullah and Mr. Said Alam from the business community and Mr. Muhammad Zada, a local political icon promised to bear the educational expenses of the 19 orphan children. It was a historical event of our village over the years and will be in the years to come, thanks to the project team who provided us trainings and taught us how to resolve our problems, remarked the PTC chairmen Mr. Ghani Rahman jubilantly.
