SYNOPSIS LAMB TO THE SLAUGHTER (Roald Dahl) The scene starts when Mary Maloney; a devoted housewife comes across a sight once she gets home from the grocery store. Her husband is found dead on the floor. She freaks out and calls the police. She tells them someone broke in and killed him. The detectives search high and low for a murder weapon. Cop friends come by to investigate the murder However, they could not find anything. Mary begs them to stay and eat the dinner. She feeds the detectives the roasted leg of lamb, which was the murder weapon.

A wife murders her husband with a leg of lamb, she gets away with it, because they never find the weapon and dont suspect her. Mary Maloney expects her husband Patrick to return home from his job as a local police detective. When he returns, Mary notices that he is strangely aloof and assumes that he was tired from work. Patrick finally reveals to Mary that he is leaving her because he does not love her anymore. Then she goes on a rampage. Mary fetches a leg of lamb from a fridge. She sneaks up behind him and strikes Patrick in the back of his head, killing him. Mary realizes that she has killed Patrick and has to create a story to tell the detectives. She puts the lamb in the oven. Then she goes to the grocery store and acts totally normal. She buys more food for dinner and tells the grocer she is going to make dinner for her husband (for the alibi).
