Solution:
Any two features of the rivers Narmada and Tapi are: i. They flow through the ranges of Vindhyas and Satpura. ii. They flow in the direction from east to west and drain into the Arabian Sea whereas rest of the rivers of India drain into the Bay of Bengal.

Solution:

India is located in the Northern Hemisphere. The locational extent of the country from south to north is between 84N and 376 N latitudes. The extent is between 687E and 9725E longitudes.

How are coral islands formed? Give an example of a coral island.

Solution:
Coral islands are made up of skeletons of tiny marine animals known as polyps. New polyps grow higher and higher on the coral remains of dead polyps ultimately takes shape of coral islands. Lakshadweep islands of India are examples of coral islands.

Solution:

The Ghats are elevated mountains that border the peninsular plateau of India. The Western Ghats or Sahyadris form the boundary of the plateau in the w Eastern Ghats are situated in the eastern boundary of the plateau. The Western Ghats are continuous but the Eastern Ghats are broken and uneven.

Solution:
The Northern Indian Plains are situated immediately to the south of the Himalayan ranges. This area is the most populated part of the country because of the following reasons: The plains are generally flat and level. They are formed by the alluvial deposits which are good for cultivation. There are many rivers in this region which provide fertile land and enough water.

Solution:

The peninsular plateau is located to the south of the Northern Plains. It is a triangular shaped plateau with an uneven relief.
