AFAME - 2 FUNCTIONALITIES
The AFAME 2 software functionalities are based on the AFAME software developed for Maastricht UAC PETALII trials and upgraded for the DLFEP project (operational use of CM and CPC for Eurocontrol and DFS). The main features of the AFAME test tools are the following: ASN1 functionalities - ASN1 PER coding/encoding (including SNACC deviations), - ASN1 PER display and format functions, - ASN1 editor (see below), - Conversion from internal CPC ASN-1 structure to text that can be read by pilots or controllers, - Tools form for BER and PER message content analysis. Message management - Message sending and reception through the TCP/IP external interface, including checksum computations and the Maastricht specific BER FDPS encapsulation, - Message save, load and archival functions, - Display of received and sent messages, - Message composition including "smart init" features (CM and CPC). Automation - Automatic update of the date/timestamp in CPC messages and of the CPC message ID number, - Automatic response generation such as CM Confirmation messages, CPC Logical acknowledgment and CPC responses (WILCO, ROGER, UNABLE, ) depending on received message and parameterisation data. Others functionalities - Aircraft list management, - Configuration form. Asn1 editor The ATC messages are composed through an ASN-1 editor allowing to define all possible messages. The following screen shows an example of edition of the full ASN1 structure of an uplink message:
Improvements provided by AFAME-2 Compared to AFAME, the AFAME-2 allows to : Process the new CPC message set and ADS definition introduce by SESAR project, Provide an aircraft simulator responding to ADS contracts (future evolution), Integrate general BER encoding/decoding procedures, Isolate the encapsulation procedures in order to facilitate the interoperability with different adapter interfaces. AFAME-2 foreseen evolution To facilitate ADS-C testing in air simulation, it will be possible to "start" aircrafts following predefined flight plans. When aircraft is started, an automatic CmLogonInd may be sent. Then, the flight plans are be used to generate the ADS report messages that are expected according to received ADS contract (demand, periodic or event contract). Flight plans may be defined by text editor or through a graphical HMI enabling the creation of new waypoints. Map display of aircraft position showing ADS reports on map background (see figure below). This aircraft situation display provides a map showing all simulated aircrafts. This display allows to control the behaviour of the simulation software and to operate a visual crosscheck between the simulation and the controller display.
