Project Electrical Power Quality (MEK 10803/MKE1183) Semester II, Session 2011/2012 Project Work: Create the power

quality events such as voltage sag, voltage swell and harmonics and suggest a suitable solution for each of the mentioned power quality event. Objectives: The objective of this project is to allow the students to familiar with most aspects of the motor starting methods such as Direct on Line (DOL), Star Delta and Autotransformer in practical environment.
.

General Requirements: (i) The electrical schematic and simulation results must be produced using PSCAD software only. (ii) Write a technical article presenting your project outcomes using the given IEEE format template. (iii) Submit the technical article before/on the fourth meeting. Rules of Project Work: Plagiarism: (i) It is not allowed to utilise any parameter value that has been used by other students. (ii) It is not allowed to copy the design (even parts) developed by other students. (iii) It is not allowed to copy any part of the technical article submitted by other students. (iv) However, it is encouraged to have discussion on the tasks given with other students. Technical Article: The results are to be presented in a written proceeding paper (IEEE format) of approximately 68 pages (not including appendix). It must be written in English. The content of the technical article should at least consist of the following components: (i) Abstract (Summary), maximum 200 words. (ii) Introduction to the power quality issues.

(iii) Explanation of the methods applied in motor starting and calculations which might include formulas, circuit, drawing etc. (iv)Presentation of the results, including useful and commented drawing, schematic, and specifications required according to standard etc. (v) Discussion and analysis of the results especially in the results and solution. (vi) Appendix showing all presented drawing and schematic.
