10-day Leadership Bootcamp


Exciting opportunity for 20 BUiLD students from all faculties to develop a global perspective on leadership that:

Facilitators and Host University


Dr Colin Pitt is the Managing Director of Linkage Australia and New Zealand and a member of the Linkage global partner team. Colin is an experienced strategist, facilitator and executive coach. His expertise is in leadership strategy and development, human resource practice, change and transition, process innovation and high performance team development. Colin has consulted with multiple organisations to improve their business performance and results at the C- and senior management level and is known for his conceptual, strategic but pragmatic approach to leadership reinvention. In addition Colin has successfully led large-scale project implementation, organisational and leadership strategy, structural and cost reform agenda. He has held senior roles in the financial services, agribusiness, research, government and coal mining industries. Colin is a qualified practitioner in a variety of psychometric instruments and diagnostic assessments. Colins qualifications include an MBA, a Doctor of Business Leadership and tertiary qualification in chemistry. Joshua Soo is a Linkage designer. He has a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing and Finance) and a Master of International Law from the University of Sydney. Joshua is involved with the design and development of customised leadership and organisational development solutions. He has project managed some of Linkage Australias major client engagements. In doing so, he has conceived, designed and built a number of leadership development solutions targeting C-Level executives, HR practitioners and emerging leaders in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. He has exposure with leadership strategy and talent development in the finance, mining and electronics sector. Prior to Linkage, he worked in KPMG and an advertising agency. By blending creativity with an enterprising outlook, Joshua adds a unique perspective to leadership strategy and leadership learning and development. Nanyang Technological University (NTU). NTU is an internationally reputed research-intensive university. It specialises in science and technology, business and the arts, entrepreneurial and leadership skills to prepare students for the global working world!

Forum Format
Module 1: Leadership
The module explores leadership for emerging young leaders and the related opportunities and challenges within the Asia Pacific environment. Leadership principles Leading with purpose Understanding the young leaders responsibilities Gaining accountability

Module 2: BUiLDing Capabilities


The module builds leadership capability and the necessary skills for participants to be better leaders. Participants will learn to build stronger relationships with their team and to lead a team within an organisational context. Team leadership Relationship building Decision-making Managing your personal productivity

Module 3: Cultivating Leadership and Competencies


The module will embed what students learn from the practical activities in the program. It cultivates participants commitment to development required for effective leadership now and in the future. Cultivating your leadership competencies Being a focused leader Emotional intelligence for leaders Trusted influence

Module 4: Corporate Global Citizenship


The module will develop the participants global corporate citizenship awareness and equip them with the right techniques and attitudes to adopt in their future global leadership position. Global leadership Key global issues in a turbulent environment Cross-cultural communication and negotiation Conflict resolution

Who Can Apply?


This fantastic trip is open to UTS BUiLD students with the following criteria:

Must have a keen interest in leadership and crosscultural understanding


Participants must have a current GPA of 1.5 or over Participants need to be easy going, flexible, independent and willing to take initiative to learn Participants must be willing to work hard and adapt to different surrounds and work environments Participants need to be strong team players

Program Dates and Funding


Program dates: Monday 9th July 2012 until Friday 20th July 2012
20 BUiLD travel grants will be awarded up to the value of $2,000. This grant will cover:
Leadership Forum in Singapore UTS:BUiLD will make the following arrangements and coordinate payment on your behalf for the Leadership Forum program fees and on-campus accommodation. The total value is approximately $1,250. The remaining funds to the vale of $750 remaining funds may be used for incidentals and/or towards the cost of your flights.

You will have to personally cover the costs of:


Airfares (approx. $800 to $1,100) Return airfares from Sydney to Singapore. Other expenses Travel visa, local transportation, meals and other expenses.
