This is the list of grants awarded in 2010 under the Collaboration grant scheme and are listed under the sectorial category type.

Capacity Building C.A.N in the Lower Danube Euroregion The Cultural Centre Lower Danube Romania Amount awarded: 12,900 www.ccdj.ro A capacity-building project that aims to connect sources of knowledge in the Lower Danube Region by bringing together 30 cultural operators from the region. Their shared goal will be to find viable solutions to common problems and to share experiences for future projects in the region. Partners collaborating with The Culturel Centre Lower Danube (Romania) include: the Association of Cross-border Cooperation Lower Danube Euroregion (Romania); Culture Compartment Cahul District Council (Moldova); and the Agency of Sustainable Development and European Integration Lower Danube Euroregion (Ukraine).

Combined Arts Short film and documentary Armenia-Turkey Cinema Platform Cinema as means of Cross-Border Dialogue and Mutual Understanding Golden Apricot International Film Festival Armenia Amount awarded: 26,000 www.gaiff.am A collaborative film project with partners from Turkey, Ukraine and Armenia, the aim is to strengthen Turkish and Armenian collaboration through film. Activities will include: workshops connecting journalists, film experts and filmmakers who will explore the topic of cinema as a means of social dialogue; a small post-production and promotion grant scheme; production and distribution of a DVD showing the work of the Armenia Turkey Cinema Platform (ATCP); and a website promoting ATCPs activities. Partners collaborating with the Golden Apricot International Film Festival (Armenia) include Anadolu Kltr (Turkey); Ajans 21 (Turkey); and Interfilm Productions Studio (Ukraine).

Photography, and short film & documentary Boxing Bari-Bassano-London Cooperativa Kesmet a r.l. Italy Amount awarded: 20,000 www.teatrokismet.org With partners in the UK and Italy, the aim of this project is to bring together groups of local elders and children from immigrant communities in London, Bari and Bassano to share their life stories. Under the guidance of the Italian-based Cooperativa Kesmet, children from these communities will then interpret the stories, taking pictures with professional equipment. The process will be filmed by local filmmakers. The project will then culminate in an exhibition, consisting of the childrens pictures, as well as diaries, memory objects and documentaries. These will be presented in Bari, Bassano and London. Cooperativa Kesmet (Italy) will work in partnership with Comune di Bassano del Grappa-Assessorato a Operaestate e spettacolo (Italy) and Photo Feature Ltd (UK). Visual & Performing Arts Culburb Cultural Acupunture Treatment for Suburb Centre for Central European Architecture Czech Republic Amount awarded: 20,000 www.ccea.cz Delving into the topic of suburbs, Culburb is an exciting visual arts project operating in the suburban neighbourhoods of Prague, Vienna, Budapest and Warsaw. Artists will create a series of artistic interventions in each of the partner cities focusing on topics related to suburbanisation. Through these interventions, the project will explore the themes of isolation, communication, traffic and social homogeneity. Partnering with the Centre for Central European Architecture (Czech Republic) are: SOHO IN OTTAKRING (Austria), (KK-Kortrs ptszeti Kzpont Hungarian Contemporary Architecture Centre (Hungary); Centrum komunitnho rozvoja Bratislava Centre for Community Development (Slovakia); KUD C3 (Slovenia); Miastosfera (Poland); and Verejn Podstavec (Slovakia).

Short film & documentary Developing Your Film Festival: European Network Independent Cinema Office United Kingdom Amount awarded 14,500 www.independentcinemaoffice.org.uk With partners from Croatia and Lithuania, this project aims to connect professionals from the film festival industry from across Europe to learn skills, share best practice and form partnerships for the future. Within the context of a film festival, the participants will receive a three-day expert training workshop. This collaboration will create a network that will continue online collaborations and capacity development beyond the lifetime of the project. Partnering with the Independent Cinema Office (UK) are the Motovun Film Festival (Croatia) and Vilnius International Film Festival (Lithuania).

Urban planning & performing arts Exploring the Invisible Playground Artopolis Association Hungary Awarded amount: 22,600 http://www.placcc.hu This challenging project explores the complex social relationships and important urban narratives by organising free street games, events and workshops in public spaces in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Germany. The aim is to explore the role surveillance technologies play in todays democratic societies. The final outcome will be a publicly accessible street game space situated directly in the urban playing fields of the partner countries. Partnering with Artopolis Association (Hungary) are Four Days Association (Czech Republic) and Berlin Invisible Playground (Germany). Visual Arts & Theatre Green Days Neon > Campobase Italy Awarded amount: 30,000 www.neoncampobase.com Exploring the relationship between urban space and the environment, Green Days is a collaborative project between four organisations spanning four different countries (Neon > Campobase in Italy; Fabrica de Pensule in Romania; Audiovisual Artists Anonymous in Belgium; and Eastside Projects in the UK). With support from ECF, these four individual organisations plan to develop visual art works and performances in public gardens and organise walks for members of the public in their own cities they will then document their activities for posterity. Theatre, film, dance, visual art, literature, architecture, journalism, criticism Locus Adonistes (Meeting Points 6) Young Arab Theatre Fund aisbl (YATF) Belgium Amount awarded: 10,000 www.yatfund.org Focusing on a central theme of civic imagination, this project will address the antagonism between economic spheres, political subjectivities and aesthetic strategies. With partners from Belgium, Germany, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Tunisia, three ten-day flashpoints will be organised in six cities (Brussels, Berlin, Amman, Beirut, Cairo and Tunis). Completed and inprogress works will be presented by cultural producers and thinkers across all disciplines (theatre, film, dance, visual art, literature, journalism etc.) with a target audience of cultural policy makers and academics. Working with the Belgian-based Young Arab Theatre Fund are the following partners: Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg (Belgium); Argos Centre for Art and Media (Belgium); Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Germany); Ashkal Awan, The Lebanese

Association for Plastic Arts (Lebanon); Makan House (Jordan); Townhouse Gallery of Contemporary Arts (Egypt); Lart Rue (Tunisia). Performing arts, research & journalism REvolution Art Art Travel Ukraine Amount awarded: 20,000 With partners in Georgia, Serbia and Poland and additional participating countries such as Moldova, Romania and Hungary REvolution Art aims to create a series of activities that focus on art as an alternative media in post-totalitarian and transition regions. This will involve a conference, an art exhibition and the creation of an art almanac. Collaborating with Art Travel (Ukraine) are the following organisations: Centre of Contemporary Art Tbilisi (Georgia); Association Kulturanova Novi Sad (Serbia); Instytut Adama Mickiewica (Poland). Short Film & Documentary Talking Letters Alte Arte Association Romania Awarded amount: 30,000 www.altearte.ro A film project about the Romani alphabet, Talking Letters will be structured as an interactive game, designed like an ABC-book for beginners and will also focus on stories told by Romani people from different parts of Eastern Europe. With partners from Romania (Alte Arte Association), Lithuania (Contemporary Art Centre Vilnius), the Republic of Moldova (K:SAK Centre for Contemporary Art) and the Ukraine (The Foundation Centre for Contemporary Art Kyv), the project targets the under-represented Roma minority, as well as raising awareness among cultural professionals and the general public.

Literature Letter to Milosz HALMA, the European network of literary centres Germany Amount awarded: 20,000 www.halma-network.eu Inspired by the Lithuanian-born Polish writer and Nobel Prize winner Czeslaw Milosz, this project invites writers to comment on his thoughts and his book, Rodzinna Europa. The aim is to engage a young generation of writers from ten European countries to think about a common European narrative. A reading tour will take place, following the same path as Miloszs first journey westwards passing through Vilnius, Krakow, Zurich, Prague and Paris. Writers will meet in pairs and their essays will be presented online. Collaborating with HALMA are the following organisations: Villa Decius (Poland); Literaturhaus Zurich (Switzerland); and MEL Maison des Ecrivains (France).

Shortstoryeurope.eu New Voices of the European Short Story Comma Press United Kingdom Amount awarded: 20,000 www.commapress.co.uk Partners from the Netherlands, Serbia and the UK will create a website dedicated to the short story. The multilingual site will feature authors from across Europe and their writing. With ECFs support, the partners will be able to visit festivals to promote the website, which is intended to become an international platform for young writers and readers. Partners collaborating with Comma Press (UK) are: Stichting Literaire Activiteiten Amsterdam (The Netherlands); Kikinda (Serbia); and Manchester Literature Festival (UK). Multimedia

Cine-boat: an audiovisual exploration of multilingualism Nisi Masa France Amount awarded: 15,000 www.nisimasa.com A floating film project with partners in France and Finland, the aim is to organise an international audiovisual workshop with young filmmakers on the topic of multilingualism. First, the participants will exchange views about the impact of multilingualism in their daily lives. Then they will spend two weeks on a boat travelling along the archipelago of the Turku region in Finland, where they will focus on the Swedish-speaking minority from this region. Nisi Masa (France) will work in collaboration with two Finnish partner organisations: Euphoria Borealis and the Turku 2011 Foundation.

Kyiv Offline Foundation Center for Contemporary Art Ukraine Awarded amount: 19,750 www.cca.kiev.ua A multimedia project that aims to connect sources of new media knowledge from different regions in Europe by organising a summer school including participants from the Ukraine, Serbia and Poland. Between 20-25 members of international art and cultural platforms as well as Ukrainian writers on arts and culture will analyse the current status quo of online platforms in their countries and set up tools for further cooperation. The Ukraine-based Foundation Center for Contemporary Art is working in partnership with the New Media Centre_kuda.org (Serbia) and Fundacja Bc Zmiana (Poland).

LABtoLAB Ping France Awarded amount: 20,000 www.pingbase.net LABtoLAB is an exciting multimedia project created by the French organisation Ping with partners in Hungary (Kibu), Spain (Medialab Prado) and Belgium (Constant). The aim is to connect sources of knowledge by bringing together cultural managers, artists and researchers involved in the field of new media culture by organising a collaborative event. This will include a forum, a publication and a website, which will focus on the cross-fertilisation between education, art and technologies.

Underground City 3D, UC3D Libat France Awarded amount: 25,000 www.libat.net A multimedia project with big plans to create an internet-based utopian 3-D city, using gaming technologies and media art, as well as making connections between real and virtual performances. With partners from Croatia (Labin Express), the Czech Republic (Prague College) and Austria (Nomad Theatre), the French association Libat is establishing a cultural, educational and virtual community that is structured as an online collaborative and interdisciplinary 3D platform. As well as connecting and empowering local audiences in Labin, Croatia, the project will bring together culture and art practitioners and professionals or students in the fields of architecture, urban planning, interior design and computer science.

Taking past & present to web 2.0 Nicolas Lenau Cultural Association Hungary Amount awarded 11,600 www.lenau.fw.hu With partners from the Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Poland, the aim of this thought-provoking project is to encourage people from different backgrounds to reflect on the meaning of history. Participants are asked to qualify things, buildings and ideas from their daily life as This was or This is by using specially produced self-adhesive memo notes. They are then asked to take a picture and post it on the projects internet portal. With a target audience of young people across Europe, partner organisations include the Nicolas Lenau Cultural Association (Hungary), Anticomplex movement against xenophobia (Czech Republic); Association of Anonymous Artists UAA (Bosnia and Herzegovina); and the BORUSSIA Foundation (Poland).

Music

BUArtE, Hip Hop edition Stichting Buarts The Netherlands Awarded amount: 29,500 An exhilarating music project that will explore up and coming black urban art across Europe by analysing the hip hop scene in the Netherlands, UK and Germany. There will be a different focus in each country: the UK will focus on artistic leadership; the Netherlands on arts education; and Germany on social inclusion. With ECFs support, the Dutch-based organisation Stichting Buarts will work with four partner organisations Hip Hop Huis Holland (The Netherlands), Punch Records (UK), Contact Theatre (UK), W B*Girlz (Germany) as well as engaging both professional and amateur hip hop practitioners in the partner countries.

Performing Arts Troilus and Cressida Moving Theatre Trust Ltd. UK Amount awarded: 10,000 www.movingtheatre.com With ECFs support, partners from the UK, Georgia and Russia will produce a new adaptation of Shakespeares play Troilus and Cressida about the Greek/Trojan war. The play will be produced in Georgian and Russian, using the different languages to denote the two opposing forces within the play. The main aim is to offer a European audience new insight into the nature of ethnic/nationalist conflict between two closely related countries by developing a new approach to the use of language within theatre. Collaborating with the Moving Theatre Trust (UK) will be two organisations: Lado Meskhishvili State Drama Theatre, Russia and Maneken Theatre, Georgia. A photographic project involving partners from Lithuania, Belarus and Poland, the goal is to bring together seven photographers to produce a photo-essay on Belarus at a time of social change. The project will also include a series of workshops organised with Belarusian students in exile. Partnering with Sputnik Photos (Poland) are: European Humanitarian University (Lithuania); Goethe Institut in Minsk (Belarus); and Yours Gallery (Poland).

Tension Field Photon Association Slovenia Awarded amount: 25,000 www.photon.si A powerful photographic project that aims to create a bridge between amateur digital photography and professional contemporary photography, with a particular focus on SouthEastern Europe. With partners from Austria (Cultural City Network Graz), Croatia (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art), Slovakia (Central European House of Photography) and Serbia (Museum of Contemporary Art Voyvodina), the Photon Association from Slovenia will examine the influence of photography in South-Eastern Europe through a workshop and publication that will empower actors in the field of visual culture in the region, as well as art students.

Visual Narratives European borderlines Association ISSP Latvia Awarded amount: 29,800 http://www.issp.lv Twelve young photographers from the diverse European countries of Turkey, Iceland and Portugal will create personal documentary photography projects that link their own country and another country thematically. This will result in an online multimedia presentation in the four participating countries and at a European photography festival. As well as Association ISSP (Latvia), collaborating partners will include: Genis Acis Project Office (Turkey); Icelandic Contemporary Photography Association (Iceland); Portuguese Association of Photographic Art (Portugal); and Reykjavik Museum of Photography (Iceland).

Research Bird and ornithologist at the same time Consonni Spain Amount awarded: 15,000 www.consonni.org Linking policy and practice, this project explores the notion of production in different spheres of art. The result is a theoretical investigation that will culminate in a series of symposia with curators, producers and relevant institutions. There will also be a publication and a concrete artistic collaboration with various artists from the UK, Sweden and Spain (Francis Alys, Neil Cummings and Cabello/Carceller) that will be shown in Bilbao, Visby and Bristol. Partnering with Consonni (Spain) will be the following organisations: Situations (UK); Baltic Art Centre (Sweden); and Hangar (Spain).

Visualizing Transnationalism European Alternatives UK Amount awarded 20,000 http://www.euroalter.com Visualizing Transnationalism aims to explore the way in which transnationalism is becoming an embedded reality in the social fabric of Europe through a collaborative research-based process. The research will be developed in collaboration with artists and activists across different disciplines from six European countries namely Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy, Romania, Spain, Turkey and the UK and will take place in Berlin, London and Cluj Napoca in Romania. The outcomes of the project will be published in a special publication along with a video/DVD. Working with European Alternatives (UK) on the project are: Stalker/Obervatorio Nomade (Italy); Chelsea College of Art and Design (UK); and Orasul Global (Romania).

Theatre

Visitors Theatre and Cultural Animation in Marginalized Communities Stowarzyszenie Teatr Wegajty project terenowy Poland Awarded amount: 20,000 www.teatrwegajty.art.pl With partners from Poland, Greece, Albania and Germany, the main objective of the Visitors theatre project is to set up a network operating in marginalised communities with the aim of exchanging experiences and knowledge. The project will involve workshops, exchange visits and the collection of audiovisual material to be used by future theatres. Partner organisations include: Instytut Kultury Polskiej (Poland); Centrum Edukacji i Inicjatyw Kulturalnych (Poland); Stowarzyszenie Praktykw Kultury (Poland); Atropos- Theatre & research (Greece); Center of Performing Arts & Flying Cow Productions (Albania); Labor fr sensorische Annehmlichkeiten (Germany); Freunde der Borussia Olsztyn/Allenstein e.V (Germany); Stowarzyszenie Teatr Krzyk (Poland); and Aktionstheatergruppe c/o KubultubuRebell e.V (Germany). The project will involve animators working with excluded groups, micro -communities and social workers in Jonkovo, Warsaw, Wegajty, Maszewo, and other two small cities on the Polish-Lithuanian border. Ark of Europe Real Society Foundation Romania Awarded amount: 16,163 www.realsociety.net Ark of Europe is a visual arts project that works with under-represented Turkish communities in Romania, Macedonia and Bulgaria. Identifying mixed communities of Turkish people and nationals in each of the partner countries, the project will create visual witnesses that reflect these mixed cultures. The result will be an exhibition with debates (among partners,

anthropologists and sociologists) and a Visual Caravan travelling around each partner country. The Real Society Foundation in Romania is working together with the Youth Forum Bitola (Macedonia) and Journal Association Balkan Forum (Bulgaria). Call the Witness 2nd Roma Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2011 Open Society Institute Hungary Amount awarded: 50,000 www.soros.org Inspired and informed by the informal Roma judicial tradition called Kris-Romani, this project will create a special Roma pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2011 that reflects the mediation and conflict resolution role of the informal court. The UNESCO building hosting the pavilion will be transformed through an artistic commission. Through its two-fold function as an exhibition and as a platform for performative testimonies, it will enact the Call the Witness echoing the KrisRomani tradition. The project will not only provide a platform for under-represented Roma artists, it will also generate widespread international solidarity among artists, scholars, curators, writers and the general public about the plight of the Roma in Europe today. Working with the Open Society (Hungary) to realise this project are the Council of Europe (France); UNESCO Venice (Italy); and Hivos (The Netherlands).

Middle East Europe C2C Circle of Curators and Critics Czech Republic Amount awarded: 28,000 www.c2c.cz A visual arts project involving partners from Germany, Israel, the Czech Republic and Hungary, the aim is to organise four major exhibitions and accompanying conferences focusing on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The exhibitions will contrast works by Palestinian and Israeli artists with art created by artists from Central Europe. At the same time, it will map out artistic reactions to the fear of Islam and anti-Semitism within the Central European context. Targeting local audiences in Prague, Jerusalem, Budapest, Leipzig and Ramallah, the Czech-based organisation C2C Circle of Curators and Critics will collaborate with Eurient (Germany); Mamuta at the Daniela Passal Art and Media Center (Israel); and the Hungarian University of Fine Arts (Hungary).

Reclaim Happiness Translocal UK Amount awarded: 15,000 www.translocal.org Taking a cynical look at everyday life in a globalised Eastern Europe following the shift from post-communism to the era of post-transition, Reclaim Happiness explores the possibilities for freedom of self-fulfillment found on the margins of past and existing social systems and examines new forms of cosmopolitan solidarity in Europe. Including an exhibition, a community art project and a symposium, the project will reach out to the general public across Eastern

Europe. Translocal (UK) will collaborate with partners in Hungary (Trafo House for Contemporary Arts); Poland (Muzeum Sztuki Lodz); and the Czech Republic (Futura Centre for Contemporary Arts).

The TOUCH Project The Fabric Association Bulgaria Amount awarded: 18,450 www.fabrikata.bg Exploring the potential of our sense of touch to enrich visual art, The TOUCH Project aims to change the way society perceives and understands visual disability in relation to art. The project will include multidisciplinary workshops for sighted and visually impaired artists and art students, as well as online sessions, research, a mobile tactile-sensory lab, a symposium, an exhibition and publications. The Fabric Association (Bulgaria) will work together with Cultura21Nordic (Demark); Sabadell Higher School of Design, Ramon Llull University (Spain); International Council for Cultural Centers (I3C) (Bulgaria); and the Bread House Cultural Center (Bulgaria).

Zones of Comfort GUACHO production platform Sweden Awarded amount: 25,000 www.guacho.net/en Zones of Comfort is a powerful visual arts project that empowers marginal and diaspora groups in Sweden, Germany and Denmark. Setting up a series of interviews on comfort and security, it investigates the complex dynamics of segregation and power relations in urban life. Swedishbased organisation GUACHO production platform is working with partners from Denmark (N55) and Croatia (Deep Sun) and in collaboration with Israeli/Palestinian organisations.
