​NKJ ROH Shed is one of the biggest ROH Sheds of Indian railways.​

​ he​​present​​ROH​​shed​​was​​established​​on​​March​​25,​​1995.​​In​​2007​​BOXNHL​​Wagons​

​introduced​ ​in​ ​Indian​ ​Railway​ ​&​ ​NKJ​ ​came​ ​out​ ​and​ ​accepted​ ​the​ ​challenge​ ​of​
​maintenance​ ​of​ ​BOXNHL​ ​rake​ ​examination​ ​&​ ​ROH.​ ​With​ ​covered​ ​accommodation​ ​of​

​●​ ​Both​​the​​yards​​are​​‘A’​​Class​​Yard,​​there​​is​​intensive​​examination​​of​​wagons​
​being​ ​carried​ ​out.​ ​These​ ​yards​ ​have​ ​facilitated​ ​carrying​ ​out​ ​CC​ ​rake​
​examination, Premium rake examination & Ordinary examination.​

​ KJ​ ​depot​ ​has​ ​02​ ​sick​ ​lines​ ​namely​ ​Old​ ​Sick​ ​Line​ ​&​ ​New​ ​Sick​ ​Line.​ ​Old​

​Sick​ ​Line​ ​(OSL)​ ​was​ ​established​ ​in​ ​the​ ​year​ ​1962​​&​​New​​Sick​​Line​​(NSL)​
​was​​established​​in​​the​​year​​1982​​to​​cater​​the​​increasing​​number​​of​​wagons​
​which​ ​were​ ​marked​ ​sick​​during​​yard​​examination​​and​​sent​​to​​Sick​​lines​​so​
​that​ ​wagons​ ​can​ ​be​ ​made​ ​fit​ ​for​ ​traffic​ ​use.​ ​Minor​ ​repair,​ ​Heavy​ ​repair​ ​&​
​wheel changing are being carried out at these sick lines.​

​transferred from Sr. DME (Diesel Shed), NKJ to Sr. DME​
​(Coaching), JBP at C&W, NKJ on 05.12.2020.​
​2.​ ​Operational Purpose:​
​○​ ​The 140 T Breakdown Crane is deployed during major​
​derailments or breakdowns in nearby sections/divisions for​
​restoration work.​
​3.​ ​Manpower Deployment:​
​○​ ​A total of 09 supervisors (6 for 140T, 3 for ART) and 115 staff​
​(96 for 140T, 28 for ART) are nominated for the operation and​
​maintenance of the 140 T Breakdown Crane.​

​○​ ​The 140 T Crane is stationed at Diesel Shed, NKJ.​

​also​ ​reduces​ ​the​ ​manpower​ ​involved​ ​in​ ​repair​ ​activities​ ​of​ ​such​ ​expanded​
​side stanchions.​

​ his​ ​device​ ​is​ ​used​ ​to​ ​change​ ​CBC​ ​striker​ ​casting​ ​rest​ ​plate,​ ​by​​lifting​​the​

​CBC​ ​head​ ​&​ ​holding​ ​it​​thereby​​creating​​sufficient​​space​​to​​change​​the​​rest​
​plate.​ ​This​ ​device​ ​is​ ​quite​ ​helpful​ ​at​ ​yard​ ​reducing​ ​the​ ​effort,​ ​time​ ​&​ ​risk​
​involved​ ​while​ ​changing​ ​the​ ​rest​ ​plate.​ ​Since​ ​wagons​ ​are​ ​in​ ​coupled​

​ n​ ​Accident​ ​Relief​ ​Mobile​ ​Van​ ​has​ ​been​ ​developed​ ​using​ ​in-house​


A
​resources​ ​to​​attend​​minor​​derailments​​and​​unusual​​occurrences​​at​​enroute​
​or​​roadside​​stations.​​Equipped​​with​​re-railing​​tools​​and​​an​​integral​​hydraulic​
​jack,​​it​​enables​​smooth​​replacement​​of​​EM​​pads,​​adapters,​​and​​springs​​with​
​minimal​ ​manpower,​ ​eliminating​ ​the​ ​need​ ​for​ ​ART/MFD​ ​assistance.​ ​This​
​innovation​​reduces​​operational​​costs​​and​​enhances​​efficiency.​​The​​van​​was​
​inaugurated by PCME Sir on February 21 at SGO.​

​ win​​pipe​​Rake​​testing​​Rig​​was​​the​​need​​of​​hour​​&​​Depot’s​​New​​Yard​​was​

​not​​having​​this​​facility,​​So​​Test​​Rig​​was​​Developed​​installed​​by​​Depot​​Staff​
​with​​the​​resources​​available​​also​​laid​​pipelines​​along​​the​​examination​​lines​
​at New yard.​

​❖​ ​Flap Door Straightening Fixture​

​ lap​​Door​​Straightening​​Fixture​​which​​is​​also​​developed​​locally​​has​​been​​a​

​huge​ ​asset​ ​since​ ​then.​ ​This​ ​fixture​ ​has​ ​eliminated​ ​the​ ​need​ ​of​ ​replacing​
​bend​​flap​​doors​​instead;​​doors​​are​​now​​being​​straightened​​and​​fitted​​to​​the​
​ROH wagons.​
